The southwest shore has been the hot spot. Dough baits and nightcrawlers work well. Trollers are working along the shoreline with flashers and nightcrawlers. Trout are in the one- to two-pound range and a lot of limits. No big fish of late.  (775) 266-3550

Runoff season continues. The best place to fish the Truckee right now is near the town of Truckee. The flows through Truckee are 332 CFS. As you go down river it gets higher and higher. The water is still pretty clear and there are some fish being caught. Most of the fish are hanging on the edges out of the current due to the higher

Fishing success is starting to slow here. Whether it’s due to recent windy weather or the tail end of the season is up for debate. The last cutthroat over 10 pounds was a 12 pounder caught April 25. (530) 541-8208; (775) 476-0400

Best fishing is from mid-morning to mid-afternoon when the weather warms. Use midges and March Brown Nymphs. Fish will move toward the banks and shore and therefore be more accessible with the higher flows. Streamer fishing has picked up with the steady flows. (530) 587-4844

It’s been cold and windy and this lake has received no recent angling attention. Spring should come back this weekend and fishing should respond, too. (775) 266-3550

Weekend fishing was very good but a wind came up early in the week and slowed down the action. A group of 43 anglers from Modesto fished the weekend and many had limits. The largest fish were two pounds. The south end along the rocks is providing the best action. Topaz Marina (775) 266-3550

Fishing has been very good here. Trout are scattered all over the lake but the south end has been especially productive. Best bite is 15 feet below the surface. Nightcrawlers and flashers work well as do trolled Rapalas. Trout are averaging just under two pounds. Shore anglers don’t do as well as boaters, but the south end is out-producing the north. by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
The fishing on the Truckee has been good lately in Nevada. The flows jumped to almost 9oo cfs on Tuesday due to rain and snow. they are starting to come down but it could be a few days to a week before the Truckee is fishable again. Before the latest storm the fishing was getting really good. Nymphing with Skwala stones and a Baetis dropper

East Carson River Fish Report

by TRUCKEE RIVER OUTFITTERS
Flows are fluctuating daily due to run off. Colder weather over the next week should help a bit but it is only a matter of a week or so until the East Carson starts to yo-yo up and down until the snow melts. The best fishing on the East Carson will be after the runoff and the river comes back down to fishable levels. Keep
