Flows are good and water temperatures are in the high 50s. There are big caddis hatches in the evening. Yellow stone flies and PMDs also hatch at night. During the day use big stones along the bottom through the fast pocket water. (530) 587-4844

The general section from town to Tahoe City is low. Look for deep holes and drift baby nightcrawlers, salmon eggs or small Panther Martins. Fishing is better in the the regulated sections to state line and big trout are being caught. Green Drakes are sporadic. Big golden stone flies and little yellow stones are effective during the day.  (530) 587-4844

South Fork Bishop Creek Fishing Report

by JARED SMITH
Southern California Edison had to complete some dam work at South Lake on Tuesday and to do so they needed to keep the water level steady while they worked. To do this they opened the outflow to max flow for the majority of the day Tuesday - so there was a LOT of water coming down the creek. DFG was reported to have stocked on

There’s a green drake hatch going on now. Use sizes 8 and 10 in the evening from the restricted area to the stateline. Shady spots are the best. Sunny spots have yellow stoneflies hatching. The water is in good shape and it gets higher as you move down the river but it’s very fishable. Water temperature is 48 to 50. The Little Truckee remains tough.

Fishing has been quiet during the week. Weekend anglers should expect skiers and recreational boaters. Those who have been out get a few trout. Bring bug repellent because the mosquitoes are everywhere. (775) 266-3550

Trout fishing turned on for those still fishing on the east side of the lake near the mouth of the inlet. Nightcrawlers and Power Bait fished in 20 to 25 feet of water get rainbows to two and three pounds are being caught. The largemouth bass bite is just starting. The lake is full so there is no shore access. Boat rentals are available.  (775)

The river is dropping and clearing and is very fishable through town. The water is cold (46-48 degrees). There have been hatches of still march browns, otherwise it’s been best for nymphing. Spring bugs should appear any time now. Good numbers of large browns have been caught. (530) 587-4844

This lake has risen almost eight feet in the last week. In addition to the water there is additional mud and debris in the lake. It may take a week to settle and then anglers will have to find the fish. (775) 266-3550

Folks at the Marina called this the slowest Memorial Day in 18 years. There were never more than 10 boats on the water during a weekend that normally attracted more than 100 boats. Those who trolled 25 feet deep picked up 2-3 fish.  Shore pressure was light Water is warming and fish are going a bit deeper. (775) 266-3550

The river has dropped a bit and the warm weather should bring out hatches. Scuds account for most of the action. Downriver near Stateline is best. The Little Truckee is a tough go. (530) 587-4844
