Chuck and Linda Fields at the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): The water level is starting to drop already. It was pretty slow over the weekend, with not a lot of people. I only saw 5 boats all weekend plus a couple of shore fishermen. We are starting to get jet skis and water skiers now.

Largemouth Bass fishing is very good right now. One fisherman caught and released 30 bass in 2 hours on Saturday morning. Another fisherman did very well late Saturday and late Sunday. They are using plastic or rubber worms, both from shore and float tubes. There has been good fishing off the bank by the dike. The largest bass was a 5.5 pounder. ?Į

Missy at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): I have a photo of a fisherman holding two beautiful Walleye that look about 28 inches long and they were caught over by the dam. Lots of Walleye being caught all over the lake. Nightcrawlers are working better than anything else.

Don Hettrick, Bob McCulloch and Don and Elaine Quilici, all of Carson City, fished in their chest waders at the far south end of the lake, last Thursday morning. Spincasting with lures was very slow with about one fish per hour. The cutthroat were in the 2-pound class. Lots of moss.

Dennis Dunn, Mark and Scott at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472: 3-pound Wipers are hitting nightcrawlers. Small gold flashers with a worm are hot on trout. Minnow imitations are best for browns. Browns are also good in the river all the way to Owyhee. Remember to bring your bug spray. ?Į

Trout fishing is still slow but pike fishing is keeping willing anglers busy. Fish as large as 24 pounds have been taken from this White Pine County reservoir. Fisheries biologist Chris Crookshanks said anglers are taking fish in all age classes with many of them in the 24- to 28-inch category. Over the weekend one angler reeled in a 22-pound fish that measured 41 inches

Rainbow, tiger and brown trout can all be caught in this reservoir. Small spinners, PowerBait, worms and flies are generally all productive. No report on current activity.

Anglers can have success for multiple species in this reservoir, which is home to largemouth bass, crappie and rainbow trout. Try plastics and jigs for bass and crappie. Rainbows favor PowerBait, worms, flies and hardware. No report on current activity.

Anglers are finally starting to see an improvement in striped bass fishing and overall angler activity is picking up as well. Over the weekend, Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens checked a couple of boats whose occupants caught more than 20 stripers. Shad have returned to the Vegas Wash area and most striped bass anglers are catching and using live shad. Top-water action has yet to pick up but some fishermen have been catching a few fish with hardware. Shore anglers have been finding some success along the beaches near Hemenway as well. The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe is proposing a number of major changes for fishing activities at Pyramid Lake. That large desert lake is located on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Indian Reservation. Among the proposed changes are: Hooks shall be single and barbless. The possession and/or use of downriggers will be prohibited. Todd Sodaro of the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229): Josh Hughes of Napa caught a 5-pound, 7-ounce rainbow on orange Power Bait on Monday morning. Doug Tollis of Campbell caught a 3-pound, 9-ounce rainbow on green label Salmon eggs.

We had a group of 30 boat fishermen from Modesto and they were out there fishing and catching fish. Their biggest fish was 2-pounds, 8-ounces caught while trolling flasher blades and worms.

Bass fishing has really turned on. Late last Friday afternoon, Mike Zahradka of Yerington caught and released 20 bass in 45 minutes with a Banjo Minnow.

Missy at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750): Fabulous fishing with the warmer weather. They are pulling out Walleye, right and left. You don't even need minnows, worms are also working. One fisherman got a 5-pound Walleye off Beach No. 5 on Tuesday.
