Foy Lake - Monticello, UT

Foy Lake, just northwest of Monticello, is a high-country trout lake nestled in the Abajo Mountains. Stocked regularly with rainbow trout, this 10-acre waterbody also supports tiger trout and occasional splake. Rainbow trout are the most common catch, averaging 10–16 inches and biting on PowerBait, worms, and small spinners.

Tiger trout are more aggressive and respond to streamers, jigs, and spoons near structure. Fly anglers do well using midges and beadhead nymphs, especially during the morning and evening hatches.

No developed boat ramp or facilities are present, but small watercraft and float tubes are allowed. The area is open to dispersed camping and provides a peaceful setting for anglers looking to escape the crowds.

Foy Lake is typically accessible from late spring through fall, as snowpack may block access early in the year. Anglers should follow general Utah trout regulations—four trout daily limit unless otherwise posted—and check the Utah Fishing Guidebook for seasonal updates.
