Lloyds Lake - Monticello, UT

Lake Information

Located just outside Monticello, Lloyds Lake is a quiet reservoir with excellent access for trout anglers. Rainbow trout are stocked regularly and are the primary catch. They average 10–14 inches and bite well on bait like worms or PowerBait, as well as small spinners and spoons.

Tiger trout are stocked in smaller numbers and offer a more challenging pursuit. These fish respond to jigs and streamers, particularly when fished deeper.

The lake has easy shoreline access and is open to kayaks, float tubes, and hand-launched boats, though there’s no formal ramp. Primitive camping is available nearby, making it a great spot for a peaceful overnighter.

Anglers must follow Utah’s general trout limit of four fish per day unless otherwise posted. Since Lloyds Lake is part of the Community Fisheries Program, it’s wise to double-check the latest rules in the Utah Fishing Guidebook or online at wildlife.utah.gov.

With its close proximity to town and beautiful views of the Abajo Mountains, Lloyds Lake is a relaxing and productive trout destination.
