Causey Reservoir - Ogden, UT

Causey Reservoir, located near Ogden in the Wasatch Mountains, offers a unique high-country fishery tailored to quiet recreation. This no-wake, 140-acre reservoir is ideal for kayaks and float tubes and provides excellent fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, and tiger trout.

Trout are stocked annually and typically range from 10–16 inches, with some tiger trout reaching larger sizes. Anglers use PowerBait, small spinners, or flies such as leeches and chironomids near the inlet and drop-offs. Steep shorelines limit bank access, making watercraft the best option.

Causey also hosts kokanee salmon, which can be targeted outside the fall spawning closure. Trolling small spoons in deeper water is the most productive method. During late summer, kokanee stage dramatic spawning runs up tributaries—angling is prohibited during this period, but it draws wildlife watchers and photographers.

Vault toilets and parking are available, but there’s no camping on-site. Nearby forest areas provide dispersed camping options. The reservoir follows general Utah fishing regulations, with kokanee restrictions in effect during spawning season.
