Anglers were still catching fish through the ice this past weekend. Ice depth was last reported at 8 inches on Feb. 5. The forecast does not show freezing overnight tmperatures for the next few days, so ice conditions could change rapidly. However, the ice surface is still covered with snow. Ice anglers should use their own judgement and do so at their own risk if they venture out. Ice augers can be rented from the Fish Lake Resort for $15 dollars per day when they are open.
For more information on National Forest developed recreation sites, fire restrictions and campground information for the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest please visit here. Sno park permits are necessary for parking from November 1-April 30. A season pass can be purchased for $25 dollars (there’s also 1 day and 3 day available) at vendors such as REI, Blackbird Shopping Center, or Sportsman’s Warehouse in Medford, and the Ace Hardware in Shady Cove
Any tiger trout caught should be immediately released unharmed. Anglers are encouraged to report their catch or any other fish stories to Rogue Fish District Staff 541-826-8774.
