The lake has been lights out over the last couple of weeks, and this is the best time of year to have those epic number days you always here stories of. The fish are finally, starting to cruise in the shallows, which is an indicator of them entering spawn mode. In terms of fishing, this is relatively inconsequential, as the fish that you see in shallow are typically lock-jawed and not really worth targeting.

The fish you are looking to target are the ones that are just deeper than you can see, often schooled up and when you find one you’ll find a dozen or more. These fish are typically hoovering up midges by the mouthful and suspending 2 midges at 6-8 feet right off of a drop off will be a solid bet for the remainder of the season. The stripping game has also been good, and if you’re looking to chuck you sinking line, look for beaches that have continuous sandy shelves, such as North Nets or Windless. For the indicator bite, the best spot will be pelican, but odds are you already knew that.
