Like the river, Pyramid has really switched on this week as well, and the fish here are showing signs of being in pre-spawn. Beaches such as Pelican, Windless, North Nets located around the middle of the west shore have seem to been fishing very well as fish school up heavily around there “natal waters” I.E. where they are stocked. Windless and North Nets will be best for ladder fishing using streamers fished on a sinking line. Pelican, however, is all about midges.

These beaches have been exceptionally crowded however, and if fishing shoulder to shoulder isn’t your cup of tea, there’s plenty of other beaches containing fish that will make for a quiet day on the water … so don’t think those are the only places to catch fish. The bite has been very consistent on stormy days, and the window of good fishing can change on any given day, so keep your flies in the water and be ready when that school pushes through. The fish are in seemingly shallower water now, but not quite cruising the shallow beaches as they do later in the year, so fish just beyond the shelves or color changes.
