The road to the little truckee is still open. The river still has great flows as they keep releasing water out of stampede. This being a tail water fishery, the temperatures do not fluctuate as much as they do on the main truckee river. Water temperatures are around 54 degrees and the current flows on the Truckee River are at 140 CFS between Boca and Stampede.

Tips for the Week

With a consistent water temperature threw out the winter this really seems the best place for dry fly fishing. It seems that if the sun is on the water usely something will be hatching, mostly consisting of midges and blue wing olives. Nymph fishing here is still the most consistent way to get into fish.

Suggested Flies

Some suggested flies to try on the Little Truckee River right now are Black zebra midges, black palamino midges, olive rs2’s,challenged baetis, and olive hackle stackers.
