Top to Bottom Mono Rig Clinic.

I’m gonna show you the benefits of the mono rig and why it works so well for Truckee River trout. One leader for everything. We’ll learn to euro nymph, dry dropper fish, and streamer fish with one leader system. A versatile system that excels in pocket water, no drag, no fly line, win, win.  

Nymphing; We’ll learn the Euro game, though most people already have this dialed. 

Dry Dropper; A deadly set up on the mono rig. Could actually be more deadly than any other rig. 

Streamers; Jig your steamers, strip, nymph them. Destroy brown trout with these techniques. 

We’ll build the leaders with all my materials, learn the knots, and understand the flies. This will be more comprehensive than the standard euro nymph clinic, and we’ll be much different.

You will need a longer euro type rod. For the way I teach fly fishing, the standard 9 foot rod is obsolete. A 10 foot 4, or 5wt, is the perfect rod for the Truckee River. 

During the clinics everyone spreads out when it’s time to fish. It’s good to have your own tippet and some flies to be self sufficient if you break a rig off. 

Cost is $300. We will meet at 8:00, off the Hirschdale exit, bottom of the off ramp at the stop sign. We will go for 5 hours.
