It's been a few years since I've been able to effectively fish all my old slots and seams here on the Cali side. The water over the past couple springs has just been so dam high. The Nevada side is usually a hundred or so cfs lower, which makes it easier to fish. Sure we caught our fair share of fish up here, but I like picking fish out of every little nook and cranny, which you can on a normal, or below water year. If you play your cards right, in the end, you can put up descent numbers.

Right now the fishing is like putting on an old pair of boots. Ray first got a lesson from the boys down in Leland Sonoma and came up and did the last few mornings with me. Ray is a quick study and got this brown today on a sz#14 G-6 caddis in olive. It's called a G-6 caddis because it catches fish faster than any other fly on the Truckee River. When fish get keyed in on caddis pupae, you better have some in you box.
