Great Weather at Tahoe

Guide Hans Moxley checked in this afternoon with an update from Lake Tahoe. The bite was back to being a little finicky today but we were able to get these fine fish into the net.

Guide Mike Neilsen checked in from Tahoe Topliners out of South Lake Tahoe, CA. Today we harvested some Browns as we normally practice catch and release with them. Great looking meat, good fun and got in before the big part of storm hit us! Nothing huge today but nice action overall, good job team Norton!

Tahoe Update

Tahoe Brown

Guide Mike Nielsen checked in from South Lake Tahoe, CA this evening. Mike said, "Well the wind finally subsided enough to fish again but water temps dropped 5 to 7 degrees which slowed the bite down so far today, but we still have time to find a big one!"

Flows are High

Upper Carson River has not been stocked yet, spring flows are still high, as flows drop stocking will commence and fishing should pick up after that. Very low water conditions. Very few places to fish.

Macks Biting

Lake Tahoe is the place to be if you are fishing from a boat in northern Nevada. It may be one of the few places you still can launch a boat and catch a fish. Anglers have been reporting good success catching Mackinaw in the 3-5 pound range with many parties claiming limits. Anglers are concentrating in the 150 – 300 feet with white dodgers

Topaz Update

Season opened on January 1, 2016. For a group of hard core anglers this is an annual tradition and anyone participating will get a jump on the 2016 fishing season. Topaz still fishing good from boats, rainbow averaging 16-18 inches, limits are being caught by some.

Slow

Fishing has been slow and the weed beds are reaching out about 30-40 yards from the shoreline. Recent gill net surveys showed healthy populations of rainbow trout in about 5-6 feet of water right now.

Tahoe Trout

Tahoe Bass

How bout trout guy playing with some bass? The Bass are sitting just at the top of the weed beds and casting the Rapala shadow Rap with slow steady retrieve and a little stop n twitch gets them to grab on. Cold water has them lethargic but warmer temps are assisting all the fish!
