East Shore Lake Tahoe Fish Report 12-06-07

Gene St. Denis: They are trolling for Mackinaw with flashers and worms or minnows at the Cave Rock Shelf. Some shore fishermen are catching small rainbows from the Cave Rock Landing. Topliners are trolling with flashers and either a Rapala lure or a live minnow.

South Shore Lake Tahoe Fish Report 12-06-07

South Shore: Gene St. Denis: When I fish there, I've been 50-200 feet deep at Ski Run Shelf and Camp Richardson. Trolling with silver Herring Dodger flasher blades and minnows, and bouncing off the bottom in a serpentine pattern. Macks are small, 2-7 pounds.

North Shore: Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): Fishing has been good to excellent. We have been trolling 100-200 feet deep. The Trophy Section of the East Carson River, from Hangman's Bridge downstream to the Nevada stateline, is now open, year round, with special restrictions. Dave Kirby reported that the fishing has been on the slow side with some ice forming along the edges of the river.

The Carson has not been fishing very well this year due to the flows but some anglers have had some luck near the broken dam in Gardnerville. Try using Casmasters in gold and if fly fishing try a gold ribbed hares ear or a prince nymph in size a 12 to 14.

Tiger trout are showing up in numbers. Shore anglers have been reporting some action where they can find open water around the aquatic vegetation that chokes the shoreline. Try using white spoons or black and yellow Panther Martins. Local Fly angler Austin Willis reports fishing remains good on the fly using black leach patterns in sizes 6 and 8. The chironomid patterns are still successful

Dave Kirby reported that a fly fisherman caught and released 4 rainbows and 2 browns on black and olive Woolly Bugger flies in the deeper holes where the River and Markleeville Creek come together.
