North Shore Lake Tahoe Fish Report 10-11-07

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552): The wind came up today (Tuesday) and it is howling. The fishing has been very good to excellent. Limits for everyone. Largest was 12 pounds. We have been trolling 50-240 feet deep. The bite is a little slow with the Macks going to spawn. Try to find the schools and do some jigging for them. Also try the shore lines for rainbows and BROWNS. Use topline minnow looking lures.

18th annual Kokanee Festival at South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

On Oct. 6-7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the 18th annual Kokanee Salmon Festival will be held at the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Visitor's Center at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. How to get there: Take U.S. 50 west to its junction with Calif. S.R. 89 (The "Y") at South Lake Tahoe. Then, take S.R. 89 north toward Camp Richardson and Tahoe City.

Carson River cleanup needs lots of volunteers

This is a final reminder that Saturday, Sept. 22 is the annual Carson City Kiwanis Club Carson River Cleanup. Kiwanis Club representative Ron Bowman is asking for lots of volunteers to help with the cleanup. He says that there will be more than enough to do for everyone who shows up, and would love to have as many as 150-200 volunteers on that day. Date:

It was 40 degrees this morning (Tuesday). The water is staying nice and clear. Richard Dean caught a 6.9 pound rainbow on red salmon eggs. All of our cabins were full of fly fishermen this last week.

We have been trolling 80-240 feet deep. We locate the fish on the fish finder and then troll in a "Figure Eight" pattern, bouncing the bottom hard. I've been fishing at the Tahoe City Shelf and Cal-Neva. We are getting 1-9 Mackinaw per trip.

Mackinaw or lake trout fishing has slowed down due to possible spawn activity try jigging for best results. Some anglers have been catching rainbows trolling shallow near rock structure but be careful of shallow rock with your boat.

Dave Kirby: Max Fladby, age 10, of Valencia caught a stringer of rainbows on Salmon eggs on Sunday. Michael Johnson of Lakewood caught a 3.75 pound rainbow on Salmon eggs at Pickett's Junction.
