Wildhorse update

Wildhorse update: The ice was 8-12” thick where we were at. Stay clear of the main boat ramp and a few points where there are still pockets of open water. Perch are starting to make a comeback and holding in deeper water. Trout are hanging out in shallow water anywhere from 5-10”.

Fish were on and day was Lovely !       ICE REPORT: North side coves running at 7-9 inches with EXTREMELY Inconsistent ice thicknesses. Ice gets better as you head towards the canyon... Shoreline to ice areas are also Inconsistent giving way to my weight

Water levels are lower, but the reservoir is in good condition going into winter. Water may be turbid due to recent cold fronts stirring up the bottom. Fall trout stocking occcured 11/08/24. Try floating worms or PowerBait off the bottom. Catch and release of bluegill and black bass is encouraged to help improve the fishery.

Water quality has imporved with the cold weather patterns. Trout fishing is picking up in the shallows. Try floating worms or PowerBait off the bottom. Fly anglers are reporting success with dark-colored wooly buggers, balanced leeches and chironomid patterns. Fall trout stocking occured on 10/28/24 and 11/14/24.  Bass fishing has slowed for the season.
