Ice growth has been extremely slow to nearly nonexistent at South Fork Reservoir this year. Earlier this week, after the cold front, State Park staff reported 4″-5″ of ice along the southwest shorelines. These conditions are expected to change very quickly, especially with the warmer daytime temps and rain forecasted this weekend. We do not recommend accessing the ice at this time.

Areas off of Coyote Cove and Jet Ski Beach on the southwest shoreline, as well as some of the coves on the east side are measuring 4-5 inches, and are considered sufficient for foot travel. Wildhorse update: The ice was 8-12” thick where we were at. Stay clear of the main boat ramp and a few points where there are still pockets of open water. Perch are starting to make a comeback and holding in deeper water. Trout are hanging out in shallow water anywhere from 5-10”.
