by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice fishing is on at Wildhorse Reservoir in Elko County. Ice is six to eight inches thick and safe. Perch and trout being caught regularly. No Recent Reports

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
No recent report but expect some ice here as well with shore access to open water poor. Expect the lake to freeze over with unsafe ice any time if it already hasn’t done so.  As a general rule, any ice here should not be considered safe until after January 1.

No Shore Access For Fishing

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
This impoundment is mostly ice covered with no shore access for fishing.  With the colder predicted temperatures expect the lake to freeze over this weekend and with an aerator running to help prevent a winter fish kill, any ice here this winter should be considered unsafe.

Ruby Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Water levels in the collection ditch are low and clear and fishing for trout is fair to good depending upon the day.  Stormy, windy or cloudy days seem to be the best. Anglers would do well to target areas where springs flow into the ditch or around culverts that create some flow between the ditch and the units.  Very small dark flies fished dry or

Wild Horse Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
As of Thursday, December 5, the lake was between 25 – 40% ice covered with very unsafe ice.  There are still some spots along the shoreline where one may fish open water, but they are disappearing.   The 10 day forecast is mixed with most nights in the teens and 20’s and daytime highs in the 30’s and even around 40 degrees, so while ice will

Lake Level Has Dropped

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake level has dropped over the past few weeks and fishing is slow. There was a problem with one of the outflow valves being stuck open, but it is fixed now.  This lake is freezing over as well.

No Recent Reports

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
No recent fishing report from Wilson.  It may still have some open water like SF.  Generally, the same presentations, flies, baits and lures as used at South Fork should also work well here. With this week’s precipitation, expect 4WD conditions to get to Wilson Sink Reservoir.

South Fork Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
As of Wednesday, December 4, the lake was ice free with surface water temperatures at the main boat ramp were still hovering around 40 degrees.  Generally, this lake is a week or two or three behind Wildhorse so may have open water for fishing for a while. Trout fishing has finally gotten good here with a number of angler reporting limits of three to five-pound

Shore Fishing is Picking Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Shore fishing is picking up, though the best fishing is still from a float tube or small boat. The lake is icing up in the mornings. Trout fishing have been fair to good while bass fishing is slow. The usual PowerBait and worms as well as small spinners are working for trout.  Fly rodders should be using chironomids, hares ears, PT nymphs, copper Johns, and

Water Level is Down

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The water level is down and the boat ramp is no longer useable.  Fishing for trout has been fair to good while fishing for blue gill and bass has been slow to fair.   The same presentations as at South Fork should also work well here.

Ruby Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Water levels are low in both the south marsh and the collection ditch.  Fishing the collection ditch for trout is fair to good depending upon the day. Windy or cloudy days seem to be the best. The water is low, with little flow, and very clear.  This is making fishing difficult.  Anglers would do well to target areas where springs flow into the ditch or

Wildhorse Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Not much change here with the high-pressure system parked over much of the west keeping Nevada warm and dry. There is a bit of a cooling trend in the forecast with a very slight chance of precipitation.  Surface water temperatures are still in the 40’s though Hendricks and Penrod Arms east of the highway are frozen. The backs of some of the coves on the

Wilson Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here as fishing continues to be fair to good for 13 to 16-inch trout that are in good body condition.  The water level, while down, is in great shape for this time of year.  The same presentations, flies, baits and lures as used at South Fork or Wildhorse, should also work well here. Shore anglers should start seeing more success as the

Frozen Over

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Angel Lake is completely frozen over and there will be no fishing reports until late next spring or early next summer depending upon winter weather.

South Fork Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Water temperatures are in the 40’s here and the water has cleared up quite a bit.  Fishing the south end of the lake for trout has picked up a bit, but the best days appear to be when it is windy or cloudy.  Anglers at Coyote Cove were catching trout averaging 14 to 18 inches using worms or PowerBait.  Fly rodders from float tubes have

Fishing Continues to Be Fair to Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here as fishing continues to be fair for trout and fair to good bass.. The usual PowerBait and worms as well as small spinners are working for trout.  Fly rodders should be using chironomids, hares ears, PT nymphs, copper Johns, and black or olive wooly buggers.  For bass dark soft plastic baits with sparkles are working as are minnow type imitations.  The

Trout Fishing Has Been Fair

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Bass fishing has been fair to good, while trout fishing is fair. Blue gill are being caught with a piece of worm about three feet under a bobber from shore.  Best tactic for fly fishermen seems to be using a sink tip or intermediate sink line with a brown or black leech pattern and fishing the deeper water in the center of the lake by
