Fishing has been very good at Blue

Fishing has been very good at Blue. Fly fisherman are finding that the typical damsel nymphs and small leech patterns have been very effective. Peacock bodied flies are also very effective at Blue. Sheep Creek Specials, Zug Bugs, and Prince nymphs are at the top of that list. Spin fisherman using small spinners have also done well this summer.

Fishing has been fair at Knott. The reservoir continues to get better after the algae bloom in 2020.

Excellent reports coming from Onion. Definitely one of the best fishing reservoirs this season in Nevada. Catch rates continue to be excellent with some trout to 14”-16” reported recently. Fishing has been tough at Bilk with exceptionally warm water. Look for bass fishing to improve closer to fall when temperatures drop some.

A Few Good Reports Coming Back From Blue Lakes

A few good reports back from Blue. Sporadic midge, damsels, and mayfly hatches have fish on the surface early and late in the day. Leech and damsel patterns have provided anglers with steady catch rates when retrieved or trolled slowly behind a sinking line. Terrestrial dry flies including ants and beetles work well when fish are seen on the surface.

Fishing has been excellent all summer. Reports of multiple fish an hour continue to come in. Spin fishing has been best with a small rooster tails, or powerbait off the bottom. Fly fisherman in float tubes are doing well with conehead buggers and small weighted leech patterns slowly trolled behind a float tube.

Bass Fishing Has Been Good

Bass fishing has been good. Trout fishing has been fair. Small spinners and worms off the bottom have been good for the bass and an occasional trout.

Fishing Has Been Fair With The Ice Melting

Fishing has been fair as we lose the ice for the season. Trout fishing has been best in the afternoon and  evenings with slow moving lures and worms off the bottom. Largemouth Bass and Bluegill fishing will pick up when the water temperature warms with spring.

More Bass Action on The Humboldt

CJ checked in with us again today after fishing at his favorite spot on the Humboldt River. This time he landed both a Smallmouth and a Largemouth Bass. Both were just about 1.5 pounds and just under 12 inches.
