Bass Fishing Has Been Great

Bass fishing has been good to great. Fishing has been excellent slowed in the middle of the afternoon but early and late remains good. A Few Good Reports Coming From Blue Lakes

A few good reports back from Blue. Sporadic midge, damsels, and mayfly hatches have fish on the surface early and late in the day. Snail and damsel patterns have provided anglers with steady catch rates when retrieved or trolled slowly behind a sinking line. Terrestrial dry flies including ants and beetles work well when fish are seen on the surface.  

Currently An Algae Bloom

There is currently an algae bloom at Knott Creek Reservoir. NDOW will be monitoring the bloom over the coming weeks. Expect this to extend through August. Check back for updates. 

Fishing Has Been Great

Fishing has been great. Spin fishing has been best with a small kastmaster, rooster tails, or powerbait off the bottom. Fly fisherman in float tubes are doing well with sheep creek specials and midge larva under an indicator or fishing small streamers slowly trolled behind a float tube. Some larger fish to 20” have been reported recently, this is also the place for double hook

Trout Fishing Has Been Fair

Trout fishing has been fair when open water can be found. Fishing for bass has slowed considerably. Majority of activity is now limited to trout in the late afternoons. Bait fishing with dough bait and worms will attract the occasional trout

Chimney Reservoir Fishing Report

Fishing is slow for walleye, crappie, wiper and catfish. A few walleye are being caught slowly trolling minnow imitations or worm harnesses. Trolling faster with rapala minnow imitations is a good method for walleye as well. For crappie use bright colored jigs in the flooded vegetation. Trout fishing has picked back up again with the cooler overnight temps. The lake is currently ice free. Fishing for bass has slowed considerably. Majority of the surface activity is now limited to trout in the evenings. Small spinners continue to produce trout all day in deeper water. Great Fishing For Bass Right Now

The reservoir is fishing great for bass now that the summer heat is finally setting in. Bait fishing remains good early and late in the day with powerbait in deeper water for trout. Trout fishing will pick up again as night time temperatures drop.

Fishing Has Been Good & Continues To Get Better

Fishing has been good and will continue to get better with the falling temperatures. Spin fisherman using small rooster tails, spoons, kastmasters, and mepps are catching trout 12-15”” range. Fly fisherman in boats trolling small woolly buggers, leech patterns, and nymphs continue to pick up fish all day long. Some of the better fly patterns include; sheep creek specials, Zug bugs, and red copper John’s.

Onion Valley Reservoir Fishing Report
