Truckee River Fishing Report-1-21-20

by MATT KOLES
Good winter fishing on the Truckee River. With the exception of a few days last week when it got real cold, fishing has been pretty good. The great news is, we have some pretty good dry fly fishing happening on the lower river in Nevada. Right about mid-day you’ll see blue wings, and pods of fish rising in certain runs. Super good on those warmer overcast days,

There are still some fish still on afternoon hoppers but

Lahontan Reservoir Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The cooler overnight lows have the fish less active in the morning making afternoons and evening the best bet. The warm extended forecast should help to keep productive bass fishing through November. East Walker River Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Flows are finally down to winter levels on the East Walker. We’ve seen 250-300 cfs all summer long making for some challenging fishing. A few caddis may be out in the evening with a few sporadic midge and mayfly hatching during the day. Fish seem to be holding deep at the moment with very few risers seen during the day. Tight line nymphing through the

The Ranch is Fishing Well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch fished well this week with anglers reporting 15 to 20 fish per day. There were lots of fish caught on egg patterns, small nymphs and some on streamers. No one had any success with dries that we know of. As with the California side, the best time of the day is from about 10 to 3. Most of the fish have been running

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We haven’t had anyone on the ranch lately but we have had some good reports from the Rosachi section in Nevada, this would indicate that the ranch section should be pretty good as well. When we get some clients on the water down there we’ll pass on the reports.

The East Flows Are Currently High

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The East Walker River flows are currently high with higher water demands downstream. Flows will start to come when night time lows start to fall. Fishing will be great when the river comes into shape. Fly fisherman have reported a few fish on larger streamers but high flows make wading a challenge. Spin fisherman using larger plugs or rapalas may entice the occasional larger fish

Ranch is Fishing Pretty Well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still fishing pretty well, we’ve had mostly good reports from down there. They’re still eating some rubber legs, San Juan worms, squirmy wormy’s, dark lords and soft hackles. As the flows drop over the next few weeks the fishing down there should just keep getting better. There are some really good fish hanging out on the ranch as well, some well over 20”.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is fishing about like the California side right now with the exception that you can fish some larger bugs and they’re still seem to want to eat some stonefly nymphs down there. As with the California side, I expect the fishing to just keep getting better and better as the water and water temperatures decrease. I’m really looking forward to some great days on both

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

We didn’t get any reports back from the ranch this week though we did hear a couple decent reports from the Rosachi section, sounds like they’re still eating some stonefly patterns as well as caddis nymphs, San Juan worms and midge patterns. With the water levels starting to go down we have been getting quite a few reservations for the ranch so if you’d like
