by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Truckee's current flow in Reno is around 3,000 cfs. This year’s river flows will be substantially higher than they have been in recent memory. Despite the high flows the river has been reported to be fishing well for those willing to try. Brown and rainbow trout exceeding the 20 inch mark are being caught with some regularity . Fly fishermen are having success using

Carson River Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
East Fork of the Carson River’s current flow is 112 cfs near Gardnerville. Fishing will pick up as the flows stabilize and the NDOW hatchery truck will be visiting soon which should make a recipe for success.

Lahontan Reservoir has been stocked!

by CHAD WOODS
The NDOW has done something that they haven't done in a very very long time. In a Facebook post they announced. "With the incredibly wet winter the Nevada Department of Wildlife was able to stock trout at Lahontan Reservoir for the first time in over 20 years. This morning 5,500 rainbow trout were stocked on the Churchill County side of the reservoir. Lahontan fish

Mason Valley Update

by DOUG BUSEY
The NDOW has been planting trout in Hinkson Slough and North Pond. The  Area will be open on the second Saturday in February. There are some special regulations for the area. I would recommend to go on the Nevada Department of Wildlife web site to learn the size, bag limits and gear restrictions. Also, included in this area is the Fort Church Hill cooling Ponds.

East Walker River Fishing Report

by THE TROUT FITTER STAFF
Fishing Conditions and Hatches: Fishing has been about average for this time of year, with the colder water now the bite seems to be best about 9-11 a.m. and then from 2-4 p.m. Still some trophy fish being landed with a couple in the 20 lb. range landed last week. Nymphing is starting to pickup on the days with some wind and clouds, fish the drop

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
There’s only been one angler on the Sceirine the last couple weeks, he was able to land several nice fish with his time down there. A dry/dropper rig worked the best with at least one fish even taking the dry on top. Stimulators with a midge dropper like a flashback emerger or rainbow warrior should do the trick down there.

Lahontan Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing at Lahontan has turned off lately because of the low water levels. Water levels are hovering around 36,000 acre feet. The best fishing has been by the dam where the Truckee canal dumps in. All state parks boat launches are closed and beach launching is difficult due to muddy banks.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
We’ve only had a few clients on the Sceirine over the past couple weeks, the fishing down there has been pretty good still though. There seems to be some really nice fish hanging out on the ranch with some stretching the tape up to around 25 or 26 inches. The numbers haven’t been quite as good as earlier in the summer but some anglers are

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The Sceirine is still fishing pretty well with most anglers reporting lots of nice rainbows and browns up to around 22 inches. It seems like darker flies are having the most success like dark lords, black tube midges, black rainbow warriors and the like. There are some open dates down there if you’re interested in having some prime East Walker water to yourself!

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
Some of the better reports we've been getting have been from the ranch this past week, there's pretty good numbers of both rainbows and browns hanging out on the ranch property. This could be due to better water quality or the lack of pressure, either way it's not a bad choice of water. The same patterns that are hitting on the rest of the river

Truckee Canal Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Truckee's current flow in Reno is 263 cfs. The flows on the river are some of the best we’ve seen in the last 4 years. August is a tough month for fishing, but we’ve been getting some great reports from anglers that know how to fish the Truckee. Fish exceeding the 20 inch mark are not that uncommon. Fly fisherman can have success nymphing

Lahontan Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Lahontan, despite the low water (or maybe because of it) the fishing has been pretty good for catfish. Water levels are approximately 36,000 acre feet. The best fishing has been by the dam where the Truckee canal dumps in. All state parks boat launches are closed and beach launching is difficult due to muddy banks.

Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Mason Valley, bass fishing has been good at North pond, float tubes and kayaks are needed to get into the open channels where anglers can access the fish. Trout fishing has been slow to nonexistent lately with the hot temperatures.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The Sceirine is still hanging in there with some nice fish being caught, nymphing seems to still be the best down there though there has been some fish being caught on streamers. The top few flies hooking up lately are san juan worms, dark lords, black copper johns and dead drift crayfish.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The ranch is still kicking out good numbers of fish as well as some browns going over the 20 inch mark. We're getting booked up a little in advance lately so try to call ahead if you can. The patterns listed above are also working on the ranch with the san juans, dark lords and rainbow warriors topping the list.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The ranch is really kicking out some nice fish these last few days with reports of fish up to 26 or 27 inches and most anglers down there are getting into well over 10 fish per day. Streamers like dead drift crayfish, moal leeches and sculpzillas are going well, wets like san juan worm, dark lord, copper john, pheasant tail, hare's ear and rainbow warriors

Walker River East Fork (NV) Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The water flows are very good for this time of year. Last year there was hardly any flow at all. Down through the Wilson Canyon area, fishing has been productive. The NDOW planted the east and the west last week. Roostertails or panther Martin have been working well. While in the deeper holes Powerbait or salmon eggs have produced a few rainbows.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The ranch has been producing very well this past week with lots of nice bows and browns making a showing. The fishing on the ranch has been pretty much like the Rosachi section but without as much traffic. Much of the same patterns as listed above have been working on the ranch.
