The Sceirine fished excellent this past week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Sceirine fished excellent this past week with anglers reporting great days with streamers and nymphs. Most of the anglers we got reports from reported 10 to 15 fish per half day with several in the bunch being in the 20+ range as well as a couple large rainbows that taped around 25”. With the higher flows and slightly warmer weather the fish are very

The Sceirine has fished well this past week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Sceirine has fished well this past week as stated above, streamers and nymphs seem to be the best way to go!

We’ve had a few reports from the river this past week and they’ve all been pretty good!

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We’ve had a few reports from the river this past week and they’ve all been pretty good! Down near the “Elbow” there has been some good action with lots of small fish slapping dries but if you want to get into some of the larger fish you need to hit up the Rosachi and/or Sceirine and throw some good sized streamers as well as nymphs. We’ve

The Carson is down to typical winter levels and fishing has been slow

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Carson is down to typical winter levels and fishing has been slow. Small spinners seem to be the best bet for the remining planters around broken dam. Fly fisherman are finding a few trout on small streamers and small nymphs on light tippets. Some surface activity has been reported early an late in the day

Fishing will pick up as we start to warm up this spring

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing will pick up as we start to warm up this spring. The warm water species here are pretty lethargic during the coldest months of the season. Walleye fishing should pick up in late March.

East Walker River Report

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
Haven’t really talked to anyone who’s been hitting up the Rosachi, or the Sceirine lately, so I don’t really have much to report. If you’re heading down there I would expect the best time of the day to be from about 10am to 3pm or so because of the colder temperatures. The last couple anglers I did talk to had the best luck with streamers

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The only report I’ve had back from the ranch lately was that it was pretty slow on nymphs for a while at first in the morning but then when this angler switched to streamers he did very well, several fish in the 20+ inch range, mostly browns. He was very happy he made the switch to streamers as he ended up having a very good

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We didn’t get any news back from the ranch this week but when we do we’ll pass it on.

Lots of action with nymphs and still a little action with streamers as well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
Well, that’s a wrap. The regular season is now closed until April 26, 2025. The Nevada side of the EW is still open all year long and as of late has been fishing pretty well, there is lots of action with nymphs and still a little action with streamers as well. The Sceirine section, Rosachi section and the Elbow section are all open. The weather

Lots of nice fish being caught with both nymphs and streamers

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still fishing very well with much the same patterns as are working on the California side of the border. Lots of nice fish being caught with both nymphs and streamers down there. If you’d like to book some time on the water down there just give us a call.

The ranch has been fishing excellent this past week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch has been fishing excellent this past week with reports coming in from anglers getting into 30+ fish per day. Some of the anglers down there are doing great with streamers and some with nymphs, it seems like one or the other works better on certain days so I would be prepared to fish whichever method they are liking the best for the day

The east Walker is slowly dropping for the season and is still fishing excellent

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The east Walker is slowly dropping for the season and is still fishing excellent. Stocking has been strong through the summer. Spin fisherman using bright spinners and small spoons are finding fish in water with a little depth. Fly fisherman with larger streamers in the deeper runs have been just as effective as the spinners. Tight line nymphing has been deadly with mayfly imitations. Hoppers

Nice Brown at Sceirine Ranch

by WALKER RIVER OUTFITTERS
Don't think all the fish on the East Walker died! This bad boy came up for a well presented dry fly on the Sceirine Ranch today. Remember, the fish kill only impacted the upper two miles of river. That leaves 30 plus miles of river that is healthy and full of trout.

EF Walker River Fly Fishing Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
There was some unfortunate news from the East Walker River over the past month. We understand that there was an event in and near Bridgeport Reservoir that caused a fish kill downstream of the dam. The CA Fish and Wildlife responded with an investigation and a suggestion of not fishing on the CA section of the East Fork Walker River. In communication with NDOW there

West Fork Carson River Alpine County Updates

by DOUG BUSEY
The river is low but still vey fishable for those that do not mind a little walking. Drifting salmon eggs into the deeper areas has been productive. Down in the Woodfords canyon area I saw a few small rainbows in the faster deeper waters. I spoke with one angler using a copper jon and a prince nymph and had been doing fair. The CDFW planted
