Lyon County Fish Reports

Rosachi section is very snowy/slushy

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The East Walker on the California side is currently closed, opening day will be April 29, 2023. We haven’t heard anything from the Nevada side lately but if/when we do we’ll let you know. There’s a ton of snow in the area this year, it sounds like the East Walker River Road that takes you to the Rosachi section is very snowy/slushy and there have been

Lots of smaller fish with a few up to just over 20

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is fishing much like the California side of the river, lots of smaller fish with a few up to just over 20”  here and there. Streamers seem to be working a little better on the ranch than on the Cali side and most of the same nymphs are producing as well.

28" Catfish

by FISH REPORTS STAFF
Teak checked in with us today with a photo of his 28” Catfish he caught out at Lahontan Reservoir on October 16.

The ranch has been fishing well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch has been fishing well, the water clarity is a bit better down there compared to the upper mile on the California side. Dead drift crayfish, razor craws, sculpzilla, soft hackles, copper johns and prince nymphs have all been doing well up there.

Lots of good nymphing and some good streamer action

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The reports we’ve heard from the ranch are much like the California side, lots of good nymphing and some good streamer action thrown in. Much the same patterns seem to be working on the Nevada side as on the Cali side. There’s openings on the ranch, if you’re interested just give us a call.

Give is a call if you want to book some time on the ranch

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We had a few anglers on the ranch this week but unfortunately didn’t get any news back from them about how they did. I’d expect the patterns should be the same as on the California side, maybe with an emphasis on the crawdad patterns. I think running a dry/dropper down there should also be pretty good for a while longer. Give is a call if

We’re starting to get a few calls for bookings on the ranch

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We’re starting to get a few calls for bookings on the ranch and with the weather starting to change we’ll probably be able to start getting anglers on the water next week some time, if you want to book a date, just give us a call.

We’ll start booking more days on the ranch some time after Labor Day

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is in much the same shape as the Cali side of the river, though parts of it have some shade from the willows and some extra water that comes in from several springs that cool it down a few degrees it’s still probably time to let those fish rest for a while. We’ll start booking more days on the ranch some time after

The lake is down and fishing has been excellent

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake is down and fishing has been excellent. Walleye and carp fishing has slowed some with the high temps. Bass fishing is really good with some excellent white bass and wipers reported recently. Catfishing has been good 24 hours a day. Bass fishing along the sandy beaches will continue to be best in the afternoons until we see water temperatures really climb. White and

The West has been producing some fish

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The West has been producing some fish, especially down near the town of Walker as well as the upper end of Walker Canyon near the bridge on Highway 395. Panther Martins and Roostertails have been good spinners to try, salmon eggs, power eggs and crawlers have been good baits. Fly anglers are still doing well with hoppers, stimulators, chubby Chernobyl’s, copper johns, pheasant tails and prince nymphs.

Mountain View Park Pond Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
We are in full summer mode which means stocking has slowed at many of the community ponds until water temperatures come down some. The Sparks Marina would be one of the few exceptions to this. Even though we’re not out planting, there’s still fish to be caught. Baily Pond and the Verdi Mill Ponds both have excellent populations of easy to catch panfish. Green sunfish

Attention Boaters!

by LAHONTAN STATE RECREATION AREA
Attention Boaters! The North Shore Marina Ramp has unfortunately been pulled for the season. The reservoir is currently at 88,200 acre feet and decreasing more quickly then we expected. Beach launching is still an option at your own risk. As the water continues to decrease, please be vigilant of navigational hazards that will start to become more prominent, such as submerged logs and sand bars.

2.31lb. Carson River Smallmouth

by FISH REPORTS STAFF
Chase Howard checked in with today from fishing on the Carson River for Smallmouth Bass. He successfully catched and released this one which weighed in at 2  pounds 5 ounce. Thanks for sharing Chase!

Dry/dropper rigs are the best way to go lately

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is still fishing pretty well, with dry/dropper rigs also being the best way to go lately. As with the California side at some point in the next week or two it will likely be getting too warm to fish and we’ll let you know as soon as that’s the case.

Mixed Reports from Sceirine Ranch

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The reports we’ve received from the ranch have also been mixed with some anglers not doing well at all while others have done very well. One angler reported having a great day over the weekend, catching fish all day long on dries with some of the fish pushing the 20” mark. The same patterns that have been working on the Cali side seem to also

We haven’t had any reports back lately

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We haven’t had any reports back lately from the ranch but typically it will fish similar to the rest of the river, just not the same crowds. Dry/dropper rigs should be good, as well as some small nymphs and maybe some terrestrials.

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report Report

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch is also fishing pretty well these day. If I was going to give streamers a try I’d try some sculpzilla’s, Dali Lama’s, dead drift crayfish and the like. For nymphs it’s been zebra midges, psycho prince, tailwater tiny, darth baetis, perdigon, flashback emerger, buckskin caddis, Fox’s poopah, and they’re still hitting some squirmy worms and San Juans in pink and red. For dries
