Lyon County Fish Reports

Flows are running fairly steady between 135-160cfs

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
Flows are running fairly steady between 135-160cfs. The baby crawdads are out and about, use a pheasant tail about a size 14-12 to emulate. Caddis, trico, and baetis are coming off mornings. Streamers of course! Black, cream, olive or purple! 1-1/2” - 4” have been getting whacked. Water temps hovering around 60 degrees.

Hopper time is almost here!

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
150cfs makes it little high for easy wading on the East Walker, but definitely low enough to get into some fish. Supplemental stocking will continue into the summer as conditions allow. Streamers are fishing well with the higher flows now but we should start to see a shift to some smaller nymphs and dries with the warmer weather. Hopper time is almost here! Spin fishing

Mountain View Park Pond Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Our urban ponds are just starting to shift into summer mode with the coming heat. Some of the warmer ponds will start to see the stocking slow or stop for the season. Wilson Commons, Mitch Park Pond, and the Verdi Ponds all hold some warmwater species that can be fun to target when trout fishing slows. Stocking will continue at some of the cooler ponds

Nymphs were the best option for flies this week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch fished mostly like the rest of the river this past week with most anglers reporting just a few fish for a half day but nice fish in the upper teens and low 20’s being caught. Nymphs were the best option for flies, still not much on streamers lately.

Spring runoff + off color water + overcast weather = great streamer fishing!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Spring runoff + off color water + overcast weather = great streamer fishing! Yep, I’m calling it, this weekend should make for excellent conditions for chucking meat as we are seeing all of the right criteria: cold windy days, overcast weather, high water with slight turbidity and good water temps. There are multiple ways to throw streamers and not necessarily any wrong way to do

Some nice fish hooked up down there this week

by JIM REID
The reports we got back from the ranch were much like the Cali side of the river, it was hard work but there were some nice fish hooked up down there. It sounds like the numbers aren’t real high but the quality is really good. Nymphing has been the best on the ranch as well with just a few fish being reported on dries and

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF

We didn’t have much traffic on the ranch this week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We didn’t have much traffic on the ranch this week, it’s likely fishing similar to the California side of the river though. A couple patterns I’d add to the mix down there would be a dead drift crayfish and maybe a rubberleg.

All sections of the river seem to be pretty tough overall lately

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The Ranch fished about the same as the California side this weekend with a couple anglers getting into 5 or 6 fish per day and other anglers getting into none or just 1 or 2. All sections of the river seem to be pretty tough overall lately, including the Rosachi, Sceirine, and both the upper and lower sections in California. The anglers who did have

Lahontan Reservoir Fishing Report

by LAHONTAN STATE RECREATION AREA
Wiper/ White Bass: These fish are becoming more catchable. Most are reported in the narrows near the Dam. A 22 pounder was recently caught! Try white or shiny lures. Catfish: Starting to pop up in deeper waters. Try getting near the dam with cut bait and worms. Walleye: No Report Carp: Out in full force! They put up a good fight and are easy to catch. Try corn

Nymphing is still going to be your best bet here

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Ranch is fishing very much like the rest of the Nevada side, just not as much pressure of course. We’ve had both really good reports and some not so good reports come in from down there. Nymphing is still going to be your best bet here as well. We have quite a few reservations on the books so if you want to book some

Very mixed reports from the Nevada side of the river lately

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The East is running at about 35cfs right now. We’ve had some very mixed reports from the Nevada side of the river lately, some anglers are reporting really good days with 15+ fish caught per day while other anglers are reporting much slower days with only 1 or 2 fish caught per day. The successful anglers we’ve spoken with have been doing the best with

The East Walker has fished well through a variety of spring weather conditions and flows

by RENO FLY SHOP
The East Walker has fished well through a variety of spring weather conditions and flows. The Nevada side offers expansive areas of public access to good small stream fishing. This time of year, the East Walker offers dry, nymph, and streamer fishing all in the same day.  Stop by the shop for more information on day trips to water beyond the Truckee River and Pyramid Lake.

Sceirine Ranch Report

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
We haven’t had any reports back from the ranch lately, I would imagine it should be fishing much like the Rosachi section, maybe a little better since it doesn’ t get much pressure this time of the year. If  you want to book some time up there just give is a call.

Rosachi section in Nevada has been fishing pretty well

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The flows on the East are at about 93 cfs right now, the Rosachi section in Nevada has been fishing pretty well, some anglers are reporting up to 8 or 9 fish per day with a few up to 20 inches or so. Most days they seem to be liking small midge and nymph patterns like princes, pheasant tails, zebra midges, copper johns and perdigon
