Lyon County Fish Reports

Flows are running fairly steady between 135-160cfs. The baby crawdads are out and about, use a pheasant tail about a size 14-12 to emulate. Caddis, trico, and baetis are coming off mornings. Streamers of course! Black, cream, olive or purple! 1-1/2” - 4” have been getting whacked. Water temps hovering around 60 degrees.

The ranch fished mostly like the rest of the river this past week with most anglers reporting just a few fish for a half day but nice fish in the upper teens and low 20’s being caught. Nymphs were the best option for flies, still not much on streamers lately.

We didn’t have much traffic on the ranch this week, it’s likely fishing similar to the California side of the river though. A couple patterns I’d add to the mix down there would be a dead drift crayfish and maybe a rubberleg.

The Ranch fished about the same as the California side this weekend with a couple anglers getting into 5 or 6 fish per day and other anglers getting into none or just 1 or 2. All sections of the river seem to be pretty tough overall lately, including the Rosachi, Sceirine, and both the upper and lower sections in California. The anglers who did have

Wiper/ White Bass: These fish are becoming more catchable. Most are reported in the narrows near the Dam. A 22 pounder was recently caught! Try white or shiny lures. Catfish: Starting to pop up in deeper waters. Try getting near the dam with cut bait and worms. Walleye: No Report Carp: Out in full force! They put up a good fight and are easy to catch. Try corn

The East is running at about 35cfs right now. We’ve had some very mixed reports from the Nevada side of the river lately, some anglers are reporting really good days with 15+ fish caught per day while other anglers are reporting much slower days with only 1 or 2 fish caught per day. The East Walker has fished well through a variety of spring weather conditions and flows. The Nevada side offers expansive areas of public access to good small stream fishing.
