Things are slowing down a bit, but Hobart continues to be a terrific producer. Due to the elevation, anglers have had their pick of rainbow, brook and tiger trout. Although not large, the fish are abundant. Take along a lightweight float tube for the best fishing.

Mackinaw or lake trout fishing has been producing some nice fish for those that have the right gear and knowledge. There are guides available for others. Shore fishing is fair for stocked rainbow trout. Cave Rock was last planted on August 3, 2007.

The high temps of the day have slowed things down, but as evening approaches the fishing does pick up. Fly anglers are picking up some action on PMD and Little Stones. Try fishing deep with long leaders. Use a drop fly set up with the top fly heavy and the dropper in a size 14 to 18 in caddis pupa or small PMD. Lure fisherman

Fly fishing remains good on stocked rainbow and tiger trout. Try a midge pattern behind a prince nymph. Lure fisherman have had good luck with black and yellow Panther Martins. Anglers can now use worms or Power Bait.

Although not large, 6 to 12 inches, the fish were abundant and hungry. Some walleye are still being caught. A few anglers are targeting "boils" near shore for 5 to 10 pound wipers that are feeding on the yellow perch young-of-the-year. Fish with lures, flies or bait slow and close to or on the bottom. All parts of the reservoir are good, although the majority

The Rainbow Trout are in the shallows and are on a good bite. Troll where you have a lot of rocks in 40 feet of water. Troll heavy lures 150 feet behind the boat and make a lot of turns. The Mack bite is so so... some days you get them and others you don't. The Tavern Hole has been good at around 140 feet.
