Southern beaches including wino beach, cattle guard beach, and popcorn beach are fishing well. Some recommended flies for the Truckee River are san juan worms, small blue winged olives, small dry flies, or small midges size 18-20. The calm before the storm on the Truckee River. It just takes one big storm cycle for us to get back in the drivers seat. Things were pretty bleak, snow wise, back in November. Mother Nature saved us back in October, and she looks to do it again next week. A little cold duster yesterday, and now cold temps and definitely feeling like a Truckee December.

The California side of the EW is closed until April 30, 2022 I haven’t heard much from the Nevada side of the EW, just 1 or 2 reports that were just ok. This time of the year with the low flows it’s best to try small midge and nymph patterns and focus on the deeper pools and runs where there will be more fish hanging out.
