Fishing Has Been Good

Fishing here is fair to good for 10 to 12-inch trout and slow for small bass with some ice in the mornings. The usual worms, PowerBait, small spinners and flies should all work. Trout are also hitting small midge dries and emergers.  The lake was stocked with approximately 500 ten-inch trout a month ago.

Trout fishing has been fair to good. Much of the middle and north end of the lake is covered in unsafe ice.  The north end of the lake is open for fishing, though there is ice in most areas where there are tules and cattails.  For trout, anglers should try Panther Martins, spoons, PowerBait, salmon eggs, and night crawlers. Trout fishing has picked up with anglers doing well near the inlet of the lake for both browns and rainbows. The south end of the lake is starting to ice up and with the colder temperatures more ice will be forming though it won’t be safe. The brown trout spawn is winding down. Angler Report: Wild Horse Reservoir

Cousins Amaya and Lauryn Drake with nice rainbow trout from Wildhorse Res. Caught 10-13-2019. Water temp was 49 degrees at 9 am and warmed up to 53 by 2 pm. Caught trolling Berkley Flicker shad minnow imitators down 8-12 feet. Fishing for trout and perch at Wildhorse Reservoir in Elko County is good right now from both shore and boat.

Good Reports Back From Blue Lakes

Good reports back from Blue. Sporadic midge, damsels, and mayfly hatches have fish on the surface early and late in the day. Snail and damsel patterns have been an excellent retrieved or trolled slowly behind a sinking line.
