Eagle Valley Fish Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The ice is 18 to 24 inches thick on most of the reservoir. There are few spots where it is only eight to 10 inches. PowerBait continues to catch fish. One angler limited out quickly while using corn-scented PowerBait.

Use Caution

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice conditions have been good this week, averaging about six inches throughout the reservoir. Anglers are encouraged to use caution as there are some thinner spots along the shoreline. There has been very low pressure on the reservoir recently, so if you are looking for a lonely place to go fishing this may be the spot.

Trout Planting Coming This Week

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout plants are scheduled at Rotary Park and Davis Camp this week. The trout tend to move downriver from these two locations after being released. Yellow and red PowerBait have been catching the fish. Li’l Jakes are catching feeding stripers. Shore fishing has been successful.

Willow Beach has Stripers

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Striper action has picked up at Willow Beach. Folks at the marina store recently weighed in a pair of fish that went 15.28 and 12.80 pounds. The big stripers were caught using Bomber Long A and Red Fin lures.

Stripers Scattered

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers are finding striped bass at scattered locations around the reservoir, but most reports of caught fish are coming from the west side of the Boulder Basin. The fish are reportedly ranging from two to five pounds, even along the shoreline. Fishermen are using anchovies, top-water lures, and live shad when available.

Stripers Slow

by TODD TYLER
Todd Tyler checked in from Cottonwood Cove Marina at Lake Mohave in the Nevada desert. The Striped Bass fishing is slow. The fish are in deep waters. Those catching stripers are using Bucktail Jigs. All of the fish are in the North part of the lake right now. There has not been much information about Largemouth or Smallmouth Bass.

Ice Conditions Very Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice conditions have been very good, with ice ranging between 18 and 24 inches thick across the reservoir. Fishing has been very good with anglers catching rainbows in the 13- to 15-inch range using rainbow sparkle PowerBait or night crawlers with a bit of mini-marshmallow. A few anglers have reeled in 16- to 17-inch browns using mealworms.

Use Caution

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice conditions have been good with the ice averaging about six inches thick over much of the reservoir. Anglers are encouraged to use caution as there are some thinner spots near the shoreline. by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers have found good action for stocked rainbow trout along Casino Row in the Community Park area. The Rotary park area is giving up rainbows as well. Stripers are taking top-water lures.

Trout Update

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Due to an equipment failure in its water delivery system, and the subsequent loss of its rainbow trout stocks, the Willow Beach National Fish Hatchery has suspended its recreational fish stocking program, which included weekly fish plants at Willow Beach. The hatchery did save and release approximately 11,000 trout in mid-December. Though their numbers will diminish over time, these and holdover fish from previous plants

Look for Striper Boils

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Watch for striper boils to catch shad for bait. You also can find shad by looking for grebes and other fish-eating birds. Find the shad and you should find striped bass. Smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing is in a seasonal lull.

Stripers in Deep Water

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Looks like you can expect a calm weekend ahead. Anglers have found some success fishing in deeper water for striped bass. Smaller fish are being caught from the shoreline near Government Wash. Live shad and anchovies are proven bait options. There are no reports for smallmouth or largemouth bass this week.

Ice Conditions Excellent

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice conditions are excellent throughout the reservoir. The ice ranges between 10 and 20 inches thick. Anglers are finding success using night crawlers with a bit of marshmallow. Mealworms also have been bringing in fish. Park management encourages everyone venturing out on the ice to use caution as ice conditions can change rapidly.

Echo Canyon Reservoir Update

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice conditions are good, but there are some thin areas at the upper end where the stream comes in. Anglers have been seen on the ice, but there is no current report on fishing success. Use caution on the ice.

Rainbows Biting

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers continue to find good action for stocked rainbow trout. Since striped bass feed on trout they are not far away. Anchovies and lures are working to catch the bigger fish. Shore fishing has been the best. The river elevation has been somewhat variable.

Stripers Slow

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Striper fishing is slower on the river. Rusty’s Riviera had an angler bring in an 8.26-pound striper taken from shore using a lure with a trout pattern. Best spots reported are near the dam and above the powerlines.

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Striped bass are feeding on shad outside Las Vegas Wash. Most fish are around two pounds. Shad have been hard to find, but those who find them have also had success for stripers. The best fishing has been out in the deeper waters, 100-150 feet. Shore fishing has been slow. Clearer skies and warmer weather should make for a good fishing weekend.

Lake Mead Striper Action

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Angler Joe Hanson checked in with a nice 12lbs 33" striper pulled out of lake mead.

Kirch Wildlife Management Area Update

by IVY SANTEE
Due to colder temperatures and winter storms systems, few people have been seen on the management area and fishing pressure has been very light. The reservoirs remain ice free, which is mostly due to the high wind conditions and not the temperatures.

Trout biting at Eagle Valley Reservoir

by IVY SANTEE
Fishing remains good at the lake despite storm systems moving through the area over the past week. Three anglers who braved the elements did well for both rainbow trout and tiger trout while throwing Lil Jake lures and night crawlers. The lake remains free of ice, but contact the park for updated conditions (775-962-5102).
