Eagle Valley Reservoir Fishing Report

Spring fishing has been picking up. Bait anglers are catching trout with night crawlers or rainbow-colored PowerBait. The fish also are taking a variety of other baits and lures, but gold or silver spinners have been especially good. Largemouth bass are taking spinnerbaits, but all bass must be released April 1 through June 30 for spawning. Crappie are taking silver minnow jigs off the fishing

Crappie Are Starting to Bite

Fly-fishermen are doing well with Woolly Buggers in olive, brown or black colorations. Crappie are starting to bite and can be found near the fishing pier. Bass are catch and release only through June 30.

Crappie Bite is Underway

The crappie bite is getting underway at this Lincoln County reservoir. The fish will hit on small jigs. White and silver are generally good colors. Bass and trout are taking almost everything thrown at them. Rainbow trout will take olive Woolly Buggers, earthworms, and PowerBait.

Laughlin Fishing Report

Striped bass and rainbow trout are hitting lines below Davis Dam. Shore anglers are catching stripers with anchovies. Catfish are more active at night and can be caught using anchovies from the shoreline near Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area.

Striped bass anglers are doing well during the overnight hours with anchovies. Black bass are taking soft plastics outside of Cottonwood Cove and above Katherine landing. Las Vegas Urban Ponds Fishing Report

Bluegill, catfish and largemouth bass are hitting well at the ponds. Bluegill are taking mealworms and grubs on small hooks. Fish them off the bottom. Fishermen at Floyd Lamb Park are finding good fishing for bass while throwing spinner baits along the tules. Catfish are taking night crawlers, hotdog pieces and chicken livers.

Water Levels Are Still High

Water levels are still high, but rainbow trout are taking night crawlers and rainbow-colored PowerBait. Bass fishing is good, but most are on the small side. Crappie fishing should improve as daytime temperatures pick up.  All campground facilities are open.

Bass and Catfish Are Biting

Shore fishermen are catching striped bass and catfish with anchovies. Catfish are more active at night and can be caught in some of the backwater areas. Largemouth bass are hitting white or green spinnerbaits in the marshy coves.

Good Action on Black Bass

Anglers are finding good action for black bass in the coves outside Cottonwood Cove. Smallmouth bass are averaging 2 pounds and are taking tube baits. Green pumpkin and watermelon seem to be the colors of choice. Fish are coming from 10 to 15 feet of water near grass beds and submerged brush.

Las Vegas Urban Ponds Fishing Report

Bass and sunfish are still in spawning mode at most of the ponds but should be completing this cycle soon. Trout are still biting at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Boulder City and at Cold Creek. Mealworms are catching bluegill at Floyd Lamb Park and Lorenzi Park.

Most Fish Biting on Anchovies

Lake Mohave the bite just hasn’t taken off yet I have heard of some small mouth bass and a few black bass being landed but they could still be in spawn mode or protecting the fry(fish babies).

Fishing Has Picked Up Significantly

Fishing has picked up significantly with the trout bite active at all area reservoirs. Temperatures are warming up this week, but anglers should expect windy conditions this time of year. Mid-day winds can come up quickly. Bass fishing will remain slow for at least a couple more weeks.

Action Has Been Very Good

Action has been very good with bait anglers taking limits of fish with rainbow, orange, or green PowerBait. Night crawlers or red worms also will catch the fish. Anglers using lures are doing well with small spinners and Rooster Tails. Fly-fishers are using olive and other dark variations of the Woolly Bugger. Prince Nymphs and Cave Lake Specials also will catch the fish.

Fishing Off To A Slow Start

Fishing for rainbow trout is off to a slow start. The water is high, and that has the fish spread out across the reservoir rather than concentrated. The campgrounds are all open.

Great Catfish Areas Along The Shoreline

Anchovies are catching catfish and stripers down the river from Casino Row. Stripers are generally in the 1- to 3-pound range, with some as large as 5 to 8 pounds taking swimbaits. Striped bass are mostly active towards the north and south ends of the lake. Black bass are spawning in the shallows north and south of Cottonwood Cove. NDOW Has Begun Seasonal Channel Catfish Plants

The Nevada Department of Wildlife has begun its seasonal channel catfish plants at the local urban ponds. The fish are planted monthly throughout the summer months except for July. Anglers Are Catching Limits of Crappie

Anglers are catching limits of crappie outside of Echo Bay. Striped bass are taking shad near 33-Hole, Government Wash and north of Boulder Harbor. The line sides are averaging about 3 pounds.
