by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Sunny skies are in the forecast heading into the weekend. Live shad are the key to catching striped bass. You can find the baitfish in Vegas Wash area, but threadfin shad seem to outnumber gizzard shad. Anglers trolling with lures in the Boulder Basin are using Shad Raps and Spinnows.

Trout Fishing has Been Good Below Davis Dam

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout fishing has been good below Davis Dam since the National Fish Hatchery resumed stocking operations. Anglers are catching the fish from below the dam through Casino Row.  Sunset colored PowerBait and spinners will catch the fish.  Anglers have reported bringing in stripers on trout imitation swimbaits outside of Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area.

Some Places Warm Springs Feed the Reservoirs

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Recent storms have added to the water levels across the management area but also have made for thin ice at each reservoir.  Keep in mind that in some places warm springs feed the reservoirs so the ice may not be as thick as you think. The NDOW asks all visitors to use extreme caution before venturing on the ice.  No reports were received this week.

Action for Rainbow Trout Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice conditions are very good following winter storms that have dropped several inches of snow across the area.  The water coloration has cleared up, making the action for rainbow trout good this week.  Several anglers caught fish through the ice using PowerBait in orange, green or rainbow colorations.  For up-to-date ice conditions contact Spring Valley State Park at 775-962-5102.

Expect Thin Ice Around the Shoreline in the Mornings

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The reservoir is mostly clear of ice, but with temps dropping in the negative numbers overnight, expect thin ice around the shoreline in the mornings making conditions a challenge. For up-to-date ice conditions contact Echo Canyon State Park at 775-962-5103.

Stripers at Depths of About 80 feet

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Live shad and cut anchovies are bringing in stripers weighing from 1 to 3 pounds between Hemenway Pier and Government Wash. Jointed silver swimbaits are great substitutes for live shad. Anglers fishing from boats are finding stripers at depths of about 80 feet outside of Government Wash. Always use caution if wind advisories are issued.

39 lb. Striper

by RUSTY
The Rainbow trout stocking has resumed and we have Jim Rott with a limit of trout he landed in the Community park area using power bait and fishing from shore.  This time of year our water levels are going some up and a lot down.  So anyone using a boat here along the Colorado river needs to watch and learn the river channel.  Also the

Striper Bite is Picking Up

by RUSTY
Up on Lake Mohave under 20 inches there is no limit over 20 inches its 20 fish. This can add up when they are getting in the 10 pound range so to some its let the small ones go so they will get bigger and to others its keep the smaller fish so the others will have a better chance to grow.  More good news up on

The Ice is Not Safe for Fishing.

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The reservoirs are mostly covered with ice, but the warmer daytime temperatures we have experienced this week have caused the ice along the shores to thin. The ice is not safe for fishing. There also are some areas of open water in the reservoirs’ centers. If you should venture upon the ice, use extreme caution.

Murky But is Starting to Clear Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Water beneath the ice remains murky but is starting to clear up.  That is improving the catch rate for anglers using night crawlers combined with a bit of mini-marshmallow.  Anglers using PowerBait in orange or green also are doing well through the ice.  The ice is now measuring between 5 and 7 inches over most of the lake with the thickest ice still being found

Fishing Pressure has Been Light.

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Cold overnight temperatures have frozen most of the reservoir, leaving only a small open spot in the center.  The thickest ice is still being found along the front of the dam, but park rangers are urging anglers to use extreme caution when venturing onto the ice.  Fishing pressure has been light.  For up-to-date ice conditions contact Echo Canyon State Park at 775-962-5103.

Anchovies are a Top Bait

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
One angler brought in an 8-pound striper while fishing from his boat above Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area.  He was using a shad swimbait.  Anchovies are a top bait for this stretch of the river as well, bringing in both striped bass and catfish.  Rainbow trout are slow to bite, but persistent anglers are bringing them in using PowerBait and spinners.

Good Fishing for Catfish at Willow Beach

A Few Stripers

by RUSTY
I have been getting some word of a few stripers up on Lake Mohave but it’s a little slow as of yet.  Could be our wind which does keep most off the water.  The Colorado river here below Davis dam has also been the victim of the weather and the shutdown.  The good news we are getting some higher water releases and the trout are

Use Extreme Caution

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Ice conditions are questionable around the area due to recent storms which dropped a lot of rain and snow making for muddy roads and thin ice around the shorelines. The area requests visitors to use extreme caution while visiting the area.  No fishing reports were received this week.

Fishermen are Finding Success
