Colorado River Report

by RUSTY
Below the dam along the Colorado River has been some what slow. the casino area has been showing some signs of our small stripers in the 1 to 2 pound range which seems to be all the way to the nature center. When you find a school of these line sides its almost every cast you will land one. If you are losing your bait

Lake Mohave Heats Up

Lake Mohave is producing the better catches of both Striped Bass and Channel Catfish. Anchovies are providing your best catches.

Below Davis Dam the Striped Bass bite has slowed also. Even the small ones are hard to find. There has seen some Rainbow Trout found along the Arizona side under the docks. Lake Mohave Catfish Action

by RUSTY
Up on Lake Mohave the Channel Catfish are biting on worms, anchovies, chicken and liver. Your best spots are the coves above the power lines. Anglers have some luck with the Striped Bass in the mouths of the coves near the Davis Dam and the points of the coves seem to be your best bet.

Kris Moore landed a 5.2 pound striper at 24 and 5/8 inches (blue shirt) he was fishing up on Lake Mohave near the dam.

Colorado River Fish Report

The Striped Bass outlook is great on the Colorado River.  Striper fishing below Davis dam is producing well but its mostly in the one pound range.  Cut anchovies are barely able to stay on the hook before these bait stealers get to your hook.  My suggestion is the bait wrap thread on a #1 or 2 hook.  Our anglers  Robert Tyler (white shirt) and Dillon

Eagle Valley Reservoir Fishing Report

Aquatic vegetation is still a problem around the shoreline, but the cooler morning temps has made fishing pleasant. The park had thunderstorms with rain over the weekend, which was the main reason for the cooler temps. Crappie and bass have been hitting on nightcrawlers and small jigs, while a few trout are still biting during the early morning hours and taking nightcrawlers, powerbait

Fishing has been great for some and slow for others. Anglers have been catching the bigger stripers on topwater lures like swimbait and poppers. If fishing in deep water, Jigs in 35-65 feet of water or dropping anchovies can help bring in striped bass or catfish. Imitation crawdads and drop-shot rigs can work well too.

Anglers heading to the lake late or early morning are having the best success on the lake. Striper boils are popping up throughout the lake in the evening. Black bass have been caught on whopper ploppers out of Callville. Find a good cove with good underwater vegetation, the fish will bite, just find what they like. Usually one lure works for one person different than

Though temperatures are only hitting into the low nineties the heat has put the fish off during the heat of the day. The crappie and bass bite have been the best, but a few trout are still baiting early in the mornings and evening hours. Small jigs for the crappie have been working in a variety of colors, with bass hitting the jiggs

The lake’s water level is low as usual for mid-summer, with the aquatic vegetation getting thicker along the shore line. The best fishing action still remains early morning and after sundown for the bass and crappie with a few trout still taking baits, small lures spinning lures.

One angler caught a 33-pound striped past this past weekend outside Willow using a topwater lure. Most fishermen

The striper bite is steady on the lake. Anglers have had success fishing the cove entrances for the striped bass in the early morning and then switching to deep diving lures once the heat of the day has warmed the surface waters. Trolling with shad has worked for many through Las Vegas Bay area and outside Boulder Beach.

Anglers fishing out of Cottonwood Cove are finding good fishing for catfish and black bass in coves. Vegetation is getting thick along some shorelines and providing cover for game fish. Work submerged brush in the coves for sunfish.
