Nevada Fish Reports

Rainbow trout are stocked regularly this time of year below Davis Dam. Anglers are having success through Casino Row and south of the bend. Trout are biting PowerBait, night crawlers, and spinners from boat and shore. Anglers are catching stripers on soft plastics and trout swimbaits. With temperatures in the high 60s, anglers are starting to see an increase in largemouth bass activity in vegetation

Crankbaits and plastics are catching smallmouth bass near Cottonwood Cove and Davis Dam. Look for bass hanging around habitat structures in well-developed coves. Striped bass are showing up south of Willow Beach, with anglers having success using trout imitators and anchovies.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife stocked the ponds at Floyd Lamb, Sunset, Lorenzi, and Veterans Memorial parks last week. Planters are hitting a variety of PowerBaits, small spinners, and spoons. Silver lures are working the best. With warm temperatures in recent days, anglers saw an increase in catfish activity. Anglers have been using night crawlers and stink baits for the catfish.

Silver and green jerkbaits are tempting stripers around Kingman Wash and near drop-offs north of Boulder Beach. Anglers are having success for smallmouth bass and stripers in the Government Wash area using anchovies fished off the bottom and 6-inch swimbaits. Largemouth bass are still hard to find and will be until water temperatures begin to rise in the coming weeks.

Fishing on the Truckee is off the charts right now. Nv Side Flows: 240-349 Cfs Water is looking great right now. Water temps are in the low 40’s. The BWO’s are starting to get into full swing with fish coming to the surface in the afternoons. Run indicator rigs in the mornings with a San Juan worm or a Skwala nymph and a BWO or midge trailing. Jakes Creek has approximately eight to 10 inches of ice.  Anglers report slow fishing for trout using worms or PowerBait.

Someone punched through the drift at the top of Harrison Pass, but it is still iffy to go over the pass.  Only those vehicles with high clearance and good tires should attempt it.  There are still some drifts on the west side of the pass that could cause some problems.  Carry chains and a shovel.  It is still advised to use Secret Pass.  The roads

Very little change here as the ice is averaging 13 to 15 inches of good clear ice.  With the warmer weather the surface is melting during the day and freezing at night causing slick walking conditions in many areas.  Fishing for trout continues to be good using PowerBait or worms fished about four to six feet below the ice though a few are being caught

No recent report but expect similar conditions as at South Fork.  The road to Wilson is more than likely 4WD only due to mud.

The road to Angel Lake is closed for the winter and the lake is ice covered and there will be no more fishing reports until late spring or early summer depending upon snowfall this winter.

As of Friday, February 11, the lake was ice covered with ice that is still five to eight inches of gray, porous ice with little to no snow on top making it very slick. The edges are getting soft in the afternoon and there is standing water on the ice.  Anglers are warned to stay off the ice at South Fork, especially the warm weather
