Trout fishing has been good following recent NDOW fish plants. Anglers are catching both rainbow and tiger trout. The fish are taking PowerBait, spinners, and a variety of small spoons. The fishing dock and ramp will remain inaccessible until the reservoir receives additional water, and that is dependent on precipitation. Moisture is expected this weekend, so travel prepared for the possibilities.

Rainbow trout action has been very good. The best fishing has been found by those using boats or float tubes to get away from the shoreline. Since water levels are low, anglers are finding the best action off the dam. The fish are taking PowerBait in rainbow, orange or green colorations, as well as Rooster Tails and other spinners. Shore anglers are catching limits of rainbow trout following recent fish plants. Rooster Tails and garlic PowerBait are producing nice catches. Worms also are working well for trout but also could fool a catfish. Reports of striped bass hitting worms on jig heads are coming in near Davis Dam. Swimbaits and crankbaits in shad or trout patterns are also good choices for stripers.

Rainbow trout action is picking up at Willow Beach. Worms and different combinations of PowerBait are catching fish between 1 and 2 pounds. Bass and crappie fishing have slowed over the past two weeks as temperatures have begun to drop. The launch ramp is closed due to low water conditions.

Anglers have been successful using night crawlers and white or sparkle PowerBait varieties. Fishing from the dam and shorelines has been the most productive. The water level is seasonally low.

Anglers are catching striped bass along the Colorado River shoreline. Fish taken at Casino Row are averaging 2 pounds, but boaters are catching larger fish near Big Bend State Recreation Area. Rainbow trout are hitting garlic PowerBait and a variety of spinners.

Anglers are reporting good action for black bass at the south end of the lake. Topwater lures are the go-to, but soft plastic worms or chigger craws are producing catches too. Stripers are hitting topwater lures and trout swimbaits. With the drop in temperature, stripers are expected to move in closer to shore.
