Marlette Lake Fish Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
Marlette opened on the 15th of this month, and is fishing well from reports we have gotten at the shop.. Crowds have been minimal. Chironomids under a slip indicator have worked well as well as small streamer patterns with a suppleflex leader on a Type II-IV line. As with most high elevation lakes food sources are scarce so fish are willing to take a variety

Truckee River Fish Report

by RENO FLY SHOP
Flows on the river have returned to seasonal averages as water is sent from Boca down the system. The gauge at Downtown Reno fluctuates from 238-290 cfc throughout the day. This consistency in flows should trigger some nice hatches, specifically caddis, as the water temperature rises throughout the next month. Be aware of fish health and safety as water above 68 degrees can be lethal

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
The ranch is still hanging in there with some nice fish being caught on dark lords, buckskin caddis, z-wing caddis, dead drift crayfish and zuddlers. The water tends to be a few degrees cooler on the ranch due to some freshwater springs that feed the river on the ranch property so this seems to help keep some fish from leaving this section.

Truckee River Update

by MATT KOLES
Summers rolling right along. Good flows on the Truckee River and Little Truckee River, warm weather, and good consistent fishing. Looks like we’ll have another heat wave to get through and than maybe a monsoonal flow, thunderstorms next week, something we have not had so far this summer. Flows are good, something we have not had in two years and the fish and the fishing are great.

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Seven year old Braxton O’Neal of Wells, NV hauls in a nice tiger trout at last weekend’s Angel Lake Kids Fishing Derby. Braxton won heaviest fish in the 6 to 7 year old category with this fish. Almost 100 children and their families participated on a perfect day for fishing

Hobart Fish Report

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
It IS a GOOD season so far, like it was last year! NDOW was nice enough to throw some more tiger trout in last week. The southern entrance had a snow drift across it a few weeks ago, and the rains melted it away. Damsels, PT's zebra midges, red or black, mosquito's, black ants. For Directions for a 4 x 4

Truckee River Fish Report

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
Flows in Mogul are about 300, absolutely fabulous flows for a walk and wade. Fishing pretty well on the California side. And up higher on the NV side, lots of the LCT's stocked by USFWS are being caught. Stones, Green Drake nymphs (Olive hare's ear, in a pinch) San Juans , Rainbow warriors. If you're adventurous, throw a big

Topaz Lake Fish Report

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
Topaz Lake is still good and high. Reports from Float Tubers at the inlet area had great reports of trout all over 2 pounds. The bass are starting to show up, buggers, dead drift cray fish. THE CARP are still in the shallows, not in the high numbers a few weeks ago, but can still be targeted in that

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
Flows average: 126cfs, about 70 cfs below median. Nice flows, and clear. NDOW stocked a couple of weeks ago at the bridge at Rhuenstroth. Dry fly action

Spooner Lake Fish Report

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
A PERSONAL NOTE: catch a chub, KILL IT.. This lake has become so over populated with chub, that the trout there are competing for food. Damsels, zebra midges, copper johns, PT's buggers in white, olive, zug bugs, princes. If you see lips: Para Adams, Trico. Just want to catch ANY fish (chub) use a zug bug... it's a guaranteed take.

Willow Creek Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Extremely low water levels with warm water make this reservoir a poor choice for fishing. Not worth the trip.

Jakes Creek Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has been good here for trout and fair to good for bass. Worms or PowerBait are effective along with black and gold spinners. Fly rodders should be using damsel fly nymphs, prince nymphs, hares ears, pheasant tail (PT) nymphs and wooly buggers in olive or brown. Catfish are starting to show up in the creel. Weed growth is in high gear and shore access

Jiggs Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here. The usual PowerBait or worms should work for bait anglers and small spinners are the ticket for spin fishermen. Fly rodders are having luck with dark colored buggers, leeches and nymphs with peacock herl. Much of the algae mats are gone and fishing is tapering off a bit as fish move to the center of the lake where the water is

Ruby Lake NWR Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Anglers can now put a boat with an electric motor only on the south Marsh. Bass fishing is still slow in the mornings and just fair in the afternoons. Generally bass fishing doesn’t get good until late July or early August. Not many bass are being caught, though some nice trout have come out of the ski pond. While water levels are down a bit

Wild Horse Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here as fishing has been slow to fair for trout, slow for bass and wipers, and fair for catfish. There is some algae growth going on and the water is turbid, though some areas of the lake have less than others. There are some carryover trout in the lake from stocking a few years ago that are averaging around 23 inches and

Wilson Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The spillway is dry. Fishing conditions should be similar to South Fork. With water temperatures in the mid 70’s by midday, trout are holding deeper. Most of them are being caught between 10 and 13 feet deep, holding just off of the bottom. Trollers have had luck along the western shore around the boat ramp and shore anglers have had some success off the rocky

Angel Lake Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Trout have been seen dimpling the surface so chances are emerger patterns are working and fishing has been fair to good depending upon the day. The usual worms or PowerBait are both successful here. Small spinners in black and gold, green and gold and black and red are effective. Fly rodders should be using anything olive or with peacock for nymphs and buggers, while red
