The flows have begun to taper off out of Lake Tahoe and the dam at Tahoe City is currently releasing 234 CFS. This will likely continue to drop in the coming weeks and there are predictions that the lake will once again be below its natural rim this fall causing there to be no water coming out of the lake making the upper river go

Water Conditions The Truckee river is flowing 234 cubic feet per second out of Lake Tahoe. Water temperature is a factor in the afternoon as we are heating up to about 69 degrees by 3pm. Attention Boaters! The North Shore Marina Ramp has unfortunately been pulled for the season. The reservoir is currently at 88,200 acre feet and decreasing more quickly then we expected. Beach launching is still an option at your own risk. As the water continues to decrease, please be vigilant of navigational hazards that will start to become more prominent, such as submerged logs and sand bars.

The ranch is in much the same shape as the Cali side of the river, though parts of it have some shade from the willows and some extra water that comes in from several springs that cool it down a few degrees it’s still probably time to let those fish rest for a while. The lake level has come down about a foot or so over the last two weeks. The water temperature was in the mid 60's. We fished last weekend from 5:30 to 10am and had on fish on with no other hits.  We tried all four corners of the lake. I talked with another angler that launched and came in at the same time we did. 

As our weather warms up so does the striper bite so to say. That is here along the shores of the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. Our local and visiting anglers are having some success by boat or shore as we have a lot of great spots to throw out a line or your favorite lure. I would recommend a glide or swim bait

Chase Howard checked in with today from fishing on the Carson River for Smallmouth Bass. He successfully catched and released this one which weighed in at 2  pounds 5 ounce. Thanks for sharing Chase!

The ranch is still fishing pretty well, with dry/dropper rigs also being the best way to go lately. As with the California side at some point in the next week or two it will likely be getting too warm to fish and we’ll let you know as soon as that’s the case.  

Rolling through July on the Truckee River. Good solid fishing. Flows have been steady at around 450 cfs here in the Hirsch, higher near stateline, and a bit lower though Reno. I ventured down to Topaz Lake last week with fellow angler Tom Blotter. We were on the lake by 6:30am and off by 11:30 am. We trolled the east and the north west shores with Rapalas. Willow Creek provides a great opportunity for anglers and the boat ramp is accessible. With the recent warming trend this is great place for anglers looking to get out and catch trout, bass and crappie this time of year. There is lots of bank access and also a fishing dock.
