Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
We are getting some success here along the Colorado River below the Davis Dam.  The fishing up on Lake Mohave is picking up with some smallmouth being picked up along the point while fishing the shelves. The largemouth are still watching the fry, this means while they are guarding the baby fish they will not be starting to feed until the fry are a bit larger.

Great fishing on the Truckee River

by MATT KOLES
Great fishing on the Truckee River. I don’t say it much, usually we have to put in work on this river, but it’s been really good lately, and easier fishing than normal. Like I say, we always get a 2-3 week stretch when the Truckee really shines. Flows have come down, about 650 cfs, here in Hirschdale, about the same West of Reno. Unless I specifically state the,

Another picture perfect day catching and releasing Lakers!!!

The flows on the Truckee have been steadily dropping

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The flows on the Truckee have been steadily dropping and in just a week it has come down nearly 400 CFS throughout the entire California side of the river. We haven’t seen this affect the fishing negatively, and in fact, the fishing has been seemingly better as water temps rise into these trout’s ideal range, increasing their activity during all points in the day. As

Wildhorse Reservoir Fishing Report

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The perch die-off is continuing at Wildhorse Reservoir but it doesn’t appear to be affecting trout or other species.  Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) biologists have taken biological samples for testing to try to find the cause of the die-off.  Anglers report that fishing from shore has slowed but for those who can get on the water either in a float tube or boat success

Willow Beach Angler Report

Near Willow Beach (Colorado River) in northwestern Arizona, Mike H. reports that large stripers are being caught on swimbaits, jerkbaits and soft plastic jerkbaits. White, orange, green and pink are the top colors. Trout were stocked about two weeks ago and are being caught on PowerBait and Panther Martins (black with the yellow dot, and orange with the gold spoon attached). The smallmouth and largemouth bite

Riviera Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Our weather is cooperating and so is the fishing. We are getting a fairly great striper bite with the shore anglers having the best of luck. It has been a bit of a hit and a lot of misses but with some persistence and a little luck anglers are able to bring in a few stripers in the 2 to 7 pound range. Our local angler

Nymphs were the best option for flies this week

by KENS SPORTING GOODS STAFF
The ranch fished mostly like the rest of the river this past week with most anglers reporting just a few fish for a half day but nice fish in the upper teens and low 20’s being caught. Nymphs were the best option for flies, still not much on streamers lately.

The lake level is holding, and the fishing has been good to fair

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level is holding, and the fishing has been good to fair. I fished last week with Renee (my better half). We trolled all morning long and the only fish we saw were schools of 30-pound carp swimming around the boat. We changed tactics and headed for the north end of the lake and before I could get one bite, Renee had hooked four

7,500 3.5inch Brown Trout

by LIZ WEIRAUCH
We’ve waited to post these pics of stocking 7,500 3.5” brown trout in the east Carson, as ‘high’ as possible in Nevada.. ( our biologist wanted to see if it worked)     It DID! It was FABULOUS ! I think we only lost between 20-25 little ones out of that 7500.     Our kidneys got rocked on that road, but it’s been a work in progress of 3 +

Hobert Reservoir is fishing very well

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The Ash Canyon road will be open in time for the Memorial Day holiday and Hobert Reservoir is fishing very well. An early morning midge hatch should be followed by a mid morning Callibaetis mayfly hatch until the winds pick up. Damsels and small leech patterns retrieved on floating or slow sinking lines are always a good choice early in the season. Ants along the

The Truckee river is flowing around 900 cfs through the downtown gauge

by RENO FLY SHOP
The Truckee river is flowing around 900 cfs through the downtown gauge. This is good for extending our summer fishing season and keeping flows we are hoping into August. It does make fishing a little difficult as there is more water in the river and more room for the fish to hide. We suggest that one should cover water effectively and methodically and assume the

The warm weather kicked the river into action

by MATT KOLES
Summer weather on the Truckee River. We look to have some cooling for the weekend, and back to the 70’s next week. Perfect weather. We’re having a good week. The warm weather kicked the river into acton and put water temps in the 50’s. 50’s is perfect. That kicks trout into high gear. 52-62, is what you’re looking for. We should stay in that temp frame

Spring runoff + off color water + overcast weather = great streamer fishing!

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Spring runoff + off color water + overcast weather = great streamer fishing! Yep, I’m calling it, this weekend should make for excellent conditions for chucking meat as we are seeing all of the right criteria: cold windy days, overcast weather, high water with slight turbidity and good water temps. There are multiple ways to throw streamers and not necessarily any wrong way to do
