Lake Mohave Fishing Report

Striper action continues to improve as the weather cools.  Anchovies are the best bait if fishing from shore.  Work shoreline areas where there is a drop off into deeper water.  Anglers fishing out of Cottonwood Cove have found success in coves during the early morning hours.  Imitation rainbow trout and shad lures work well with the right presentation. Action for Stocked Rainbow Trout has Been Very Good

 Action for stocked rainbow trout has been very good.  The fish are taking garlic-flavored PowerBait or Power Eggs.  The Nevada Department of Wildlife plans to release rainbow trout at Floyd Lamb, Sunset, and Veterans Memorial parks sometime this week.  Cold Creek also is on the schedule.

Striped Bass are Biting Best at Sunrise

 According to reports, striped bass are biting best at sunrise when they are actively feeding on shad. Shad imitations and swimbaits work well during this time.  Catfish up to 6 pounds are taking anchovies and shad in coves near Callville Bay.  With weather changes that include cloudy days and the chance of rain, expect some variations in fishing results.

Hope all is well. I have some news from up on Lake Mohave Our local angler Steve Pugh Or “Hot stick Steve Owe” Had some stripers to share. He landed these while fishing from shore using a swim bait the larger one was 9.12 pounds at 29 and 3/4 inches next was 7.86 pounds and 28 and 1/8 while the smaller one a nice 2.96

Eagle Valley Reservoir Fishing Report

The upper end of the reservoir is covered by thin ice and is unsafe to walk upon, while the lower section has thin ice around the edge in the morning but melting off later in the day.  The best action has been off the fishing dock for those using green Power Bait or night crawlers.  For up to date ice conditions contact the park at

 Striper action continues to improve as the weather cools. Anchovies and lures are both catching the fish. Swimbaits have been effective just after sunrise and around sunset. Anglers have found black bass while working coves later in the morning around Cottonwood Cove. Catfish are being found in coves above Telephone Cove.  

Trout Stocking for this Season has Begun

Rainbow trout stocking for this season has begun with fish going into Floyd Lamb, Sunset, Lorenzi, Boulder City and Hafen park ponds on November 15.  Trout plants general take place weekly, but due to holidays and hatchery scheduling some weeks will be skipped.  The fish have been taking Power Eggs and PowerBait, garlic flavored working best, along with small spinning lures and flies.

The best striper action has been taking place at sunrise and sunset when the fish are feeding on shad along the shorelines.  Live shad, anchovies, shad imitations and swimbaits will catch the fish. Black Bass have been biting on plastic worms later in the day.  Catfish are taking anchovies in the coves of Las Vegas Bay.  Changes in weather will bring some variations in fishing

The Striper Bite is Picking Up

Up on Lake Mohave the striper bite is picking up.  I heard last that telephone cove was doing ok.  On the lake you might have to move around a bit to find out where the fish are feeding.  There have been a lot of shad schools that the striper and various birds have been feeding on.  No word on the Largemouth Bass or small mouth

Fantastic Fishing Going On

What a great area we live in and yep, we have some fantastic fishing going on. Yep its mostly stripers and trout here along the Colorado River below the Davis Dam. The Willow Beach Fish Hatchery has been stocking some nice rainbows.  Our local angler Jerry Ward is showing us an example of a limit of trout he landed in the rotary park area.  Jerry

Trout are hitting a variety of flies

With last year’s below normal snowfall and the hot dry summer, Comins is a few feet below normal for this time of year.  Expect the possibility of some ice at the south end of the lake.  Bass fishing is very slow with the colder water temperatures.  Trout are hitting a variety of flies from leeches to nymphs to buggers as well as powerbait and nightcrawlers.
