Lake Mohave Fishing Report

Up on Lake Mohave the striper bite is beginning the coves up near and around the power lines have been producing a few while near the dam has seen some of the stripers in the 5 pound range. Our local angler Don Calvano landed a channel catfish near the dam bait fishing from shore. His catfish weighed in at 4.12 pounds and was 22 and

Fishing has Been Rated Very Good

Fishing has been rated very good with anglers reporting average cutthroat in the 16 to 26 inch range. There have been a lot of fish caught in the 4 to 10 lbs range as well. Boaters have been using black or purple jigs. Shoe angler have been using green stripped spoons on the drop offs.

10lb Cutty!

The Key is Depth!

The opener at Pyramid Lake has finally arrived! Fish are in deeper water due to the 68-70 degree surface temps. This has the fish holding in 20 to 30 feet of water. A float tube or boat is the most effective way to fish for these monster trout right now as fish are only intermittently coming into the shallows to eat. There is bait everywhere

Fish are Moving into Faster Water

Flows in the Truckee River are fluctuating from 350 cfs to 250 cfs at the downtown gauge depending on upstream releases and diversions. Not a lot of change on the Truckee river as of late. Fish are moving into faster water to put on the feed bag for winter. Search pocket water and runs moving faster than a walking pace. Fish are being caught all times

Truckee River Fly Fishing Report

Summer turned to fall on the Truckee River. I needed it. Ain’t easy catching trouts when it’s 94 degrees out. Ain’t easy on the body either. We’ve had clouds, rain, and even a duster of snow on the peaks. The fishing is much, much better on the entire Truckee River. There Seems to be More Browns Becoming Active

The ranch is still fishing very well, on par with the other sections of the river. There seems to be more browns becoming active so this is always fun. The flies listed above are all working well on the ranch and you could add some stonefly patterns to the arsenal.
