Echo Canyon Reservoir Fishing Report

Trout action has been slow, but crappie and bass have been hitting well for those working the middle of the lake or along the rocks. Fly-fishers have been doing well with brown Woolly Buggers and nymph patterns.

Lake Mohave Fishing Report

Striper fishing has been the best for those fishing from a boat. The fish are mostly in the 2- to 4-pound range though some have weighed in at six and seven pounds. If you want to catch fish from the shoreline, fish in the early morning hours before the temperature warms up.

Lake Mead Fishing Report

High temperatures are keeping the fish in deeper water and out from the shoreline shore during the day, but the fish are coming after the sun goes down. Early risers are seeing boils in and around the coves. Sassy shads, Zara Spooks and Jumpin’ Minnows are good top-water options when fishing boils. Anglers have found some success for stripers along the tires near the marinas.

Marlette opened on the 15th of this month, and is fishing well from reports we have gotten at the shop.. Crowds have been minimal. Chironomids under a slip indicator have worked well as well as small streamer patterns with a suppleflex leader on a Type II-IV line. Truckee River Fish Report

Flows on the river have returned to seasonal averages as water is sent from Boca down the system. The gauge at Downtown Reno fluctuates from 238-290 cfc throughout the day. This consistency in flows should trigger some nice hatches, specifically caddis, as the water temperature rises throughout the next month. Be aware of fish health and safety as water above 68 degrees can be lethal

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

East Walker River Sceirine Ranch

The ranch is still hanging in there with some nice fish being caught on dark lords, buckskin caddis, z-wing caddis, dead drift crayfish and zuddlers. The water tends to be a few degrees cooler on the ranch due to some freshwater springs that feed the river on the ranch property so this seems to help keep some fish from leaving this section.

Truckee River Update

Summers rolling right along. Good flows on the Truckee River and Little Truckee River, warm weather, and good consistent fishing. Looks like we’ll have another heat wave to get through and than maybe a monsoonal flow, thunderstorms next week, something we have not had so far this summer. Flows are good, something we have not had in two years and the fish and the fishing are great.

Kid's Derby a Blast!

Seven year old Braxton O’Neal of Wells, NV hauls in a nice tiger trout at last weekend’s Angel Lake Kids Fishing Derby. Braxton won heaviest fish in the 6 to 7 year old category with this fish. Almost 100 children and their families participated on a perfect day for fishing
