Crosby Lodge Report

by CROSBY LODGE
Valerie Taylor checked in from Crosby Lodge in Sutcliffe, NV. The fishing at Pyramid has been busy. Lots of guys and gals trying to catch a big one. The catching has been tough lately. We have had lots of rain last night and this morning so we are hoping it will turn things around.

Gilligan Update

by MATT KOLES
Big big water. Well over 1200 cubes here in the Hirsch this last weekend, and now back to around 1000. The fishing seems to be very difficult if you do not have some experience fishing at these flows. Key is to stay out of the current, good luck. Fish slack edges and do not wade to far out, fish will be at your feet. The whole

Sceirine Ranch Fishing Report

by JIM REID
We've had several clients on the Ranch this past week though not all of them offered reports on the fishing. The ones who did give us a call with reports did very well down there, lots of fish in the 16 to 20 inch range, mostly on nymphs. Seems the best patterns this week were san juan worms, zebra midge, rainbow warrior and ice nymphs.

Tahoe Lakes Biting

by HANS MOXLEY
Guide Hans Moxley checked in from Lake Tahoe Today. We were on the fish today and it was a drop dead gorgeous day on the Big Blue Lake!

Tahoe Bass

by MIKE NIELSEN
How bout trout guy playing with some bass? The Bass are sitting just at the top of the weed beds and casting the Rapala shadow Rap with slow steady retrieve and a little stop n twitch gets them to grab on. Cold water has them lethargic but warmer temps are assisting all the fish!

Lake Mead Bass

by CHAD WOODS
Angler Lance Mattson checked into NVFR Facebook page. On Tuesday, April 5th Lance Mattson caught this nice Largemouth Bass at Lake Mead.

Truckee Good

by MATT KOLES
Hard to believe it’s already April. The Truckee River is still pumping pretty good, at least through the lower stuff here down in the Hirsch. Flows should come down soon after Donner and Prosser get rid of water for flood protection. Boca is almost up to the top. I have not seen it that full since ’12. Flows will increase from snow melt at some

Excellent

by JIM REID
The Sceirine has been fishing excellent this past week, we've had several clients on the ranch over the last 4 or 5 days and all of them have done very well. Lots of browns in the 16 to 20 inch range being landed as well as a handful of rainbows in the same size range making a showing. The fish are very healthy and

Lakers Biting

Plenty of Open Water

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Plenty of open water for fishing though there is no report on how fishing is, but generally after ice out it can be spotty here with one day being good and the next slow. Worms or PowerBait are effective along with black and gold spinners. Fly rodders should be using chironomids, prince nymphs, hares ears, pheasant tail (PT) nymphs and wooly buggers in olive or

Too Be Stocked Soon

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Thanks to the work done on Jiggs, the lake is holding water and is about a third full. Because it has been dry the past few years, there are currently no fish in the lake. NDOW is planning to stock it with trout sometime in April or early May.

Ruby Lake NWR Update

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Very little change here as fishing continues to be good and worth the long drive. Harrison Pass is still closed due to snow and probably will be for a while. Plan on using Secret Pass. The collection ditch is open and fishing has been very good using a variety of flies, spinners and lures. Anglers report days of 10 to 30 fish, often catching nice

Starting to Break Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Wild Horse is ice free south of the island off of the state park boat ramp and has plenty of open water for fishing in the rest of the lake. The wind is starting to break up the ice and it won’t be long before this lake is ice free and may even be ice free by the time you read this. The lake level

Not Worth It

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Extremely low water levels with warm water make this reservoir a poor choice for fishing. Not worth the trip.

Plenty of Open Water

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road should be dry but rutted. Plenty of open water for fishing. Fishing is fair for trout. Anglers should use the same presentations and techniques as South Fork.

Road Still Closed

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The road to Angel Lake is closed. There will be no further reports until late next spring or early summer depending upon snow conditions.

Picking Up

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Fishing has started to pick up at South Fork as the water temperatures climb into the mid 40’s. Anglers have had some success along Jet Ski Beach and at the cove next to the dam on the northeast side of the lake using PowerBait. This is a lake where fishing the edges caused by the inflow of water from the river and by wind coming

Good!

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Despite recent snow falls the reservoirs remain free of ice and trout are taking almost anything thrown at them. Cold Springs Reservoir received approximately 7,500 rainbow trout last week. NDOW suggests using caution when driving around the area due to the muddy conditions.

Fair to Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Cave Lake is ice free and the water quality is very good. Fishing has been fair to good for 10 to 13 inch fish using the usual worms and PowerBait. Small Cave Lake specials, wooly buggers and the usual nymphs such as prince, hares ears and pheasant tail nymphs should all work.

Ice Free

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
The lake is now ice free and the water level is coming up currently at about 60% of capacity. Fish have been seen dimpling the surface, probably taking midges or mayfly emergers. Fishing should be good on the warmer afternoons.

Ice Free

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Illipah is ice free, the lake is approaching 50% of capacity. Fishing has been fair to good for trout. Most anglers have been using worms, PowerBait, spinners, and wooly buggers.

Good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Last week the reservoir received over 14,000 rainbows making for great fishing conditions. Anglers are doing well using a variety of baits and lures, but the most productive have been Mepp’s gold or silver spinners with red dots. Bait fishers have been doing very well using night crawlers.
