Rivieria Marina Fishing Report

by RUSTY
Hey everyone, it’s me with a couple of stripers I caught a couple of years ago. I’d love to get some local and visiting anglers involved by bringing in their catches so we can share your stories! You don’t need to land a big fish – any catch would be great. I know trout are still coming in, so a few rainbow trout would make

The lake has fished well the entire season

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
By this time last year, Pyramid was in a funky spot with for fishing. The bite was sporadic and it never really switched on last season coming into the spring spawn. Yes, big fish were caught, but the consistency wasn’t there. While there was a lot of speculation, no one could really figure out why.  We are happy to report that this year has been different,

Fishing on the river this week will be tough

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
After the last storm pushed through, we had a few days of sunny weather and fair fishing conditions as the flows dropped and the water cleared up a bit. With this next storm now arriving, we expect the flows to rise once again, and fishing on the river this week will almost certainly be tough.  Keep an eye on the water clarity if you plan to

Been a cold week on the Truckee River!

by MATT KOLES
Been a cold week on the Truckee River. Lots of rain and snow though the next few days, and some warmer temps on out.  These low temps mainly kept me off the river much of this week. Now that we'll get some weather again, things look good. The Truckee River always fishes well during and after these big storms. Remember, much of this snow does not reach

Rainbow trout have been the primary catch below Casino Row

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Rainbow trout have been the primary catch below Casino Row. Anglers fishing from boats and the shoreline are catching rainbows using PowerBait, night crawlers and spinners. The striper bite has been inconsistent though there is always the chance of catching a double-digit fish that is looking for a plump trout.

Most striper catches are being reported from the north and south ends of the reservoir

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Most striper catches are being reported from the north and south ends of the reservoir. Boaters have been successful using deep diving jerkbaits in shad and minnow patterns. Black bass action remains slow, likely due to the cooler mornings. Kayakers are catching rainbow trout with soft plastic worms in pearl and olive colors north and south of the Willow Beach marina. A few anglers have

Pyramid has fished very well this week

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
Pyramid has fished very well this week. The fish have begun to consistently hang in shallow water, and the beaches with a gradual drop offs have started to really fire off. This is an excellent sign for great spring fishing conditions ahead. These beaches are where using a ladder will really come into play.  We have noticed a serious drop off in the effectiveness of balanced

The river came up a lot

by TROUT CREEK OUTFITTERS
The river came up, a lot. This will make fishing here a bit tougher for the next few days, but certainly not impossible. If you are looking to fish the river right now, pick your location wisely. The long slow deep runs primarily found in the canyon will likely be your best shot at finding good holding water.  This is also an excellent time to fish

The midge bite is on!

by RENO FLY SHOP
What a change a few weeks can make. The lake surface temperatures have come up 5 degrees, and the midge bite is on! Indicator fishing has proven to be the best technique as of late, with a few fish coming on the strip on overcast days. I think the water needs to warm up just a little more to really kick on the strip bite.

A series of storms have increased flows and decreased clarity on the Truckee River

by RENO FLY SHOP
A series of storms have increased flows (link here) and decreased clarity on the Truckee River this past week. While flows haven’t been limiting the clarity have slowed down bugs and fish feedback. The flows have already dropped back to accessible levels and we anticipate the clarity to improve quickly. While it is transitioning back to clearer water we encourage all to try fishing worm
