Illipah Reservoir is sitting at approximately 40% ice covered. Anglers can fish most of the western shoreline and can even launch a boat and access a good part of the rest of the lake. All ice should be considered unsafe and will likely remain unsafe. A total of 9,012 rainbow trout averaging 9.3 inches were stocked this fall.

Night crawlers and mealworms are catching stocked rainbow trout. The Nevada Department of Wildlife recently stocked trout in each of the community fishing ponds, Beatty and Hafen Park Ponds included. Anglers have reported catching a few catfish with night crawlers on warm afternoons. Although temperatures are beginning to warm up, the bluegill bite remains sluggish.

Local angler Bryan Werkmeister landed a couple of nice stripers while fishing from the shore in the Community Park area. Earlier this week, after the cold front, State Park staff reported 4″-5″ of ice along the southwest shorelines.
