The run-off is slowing down already. The flows are at fish able stages only upstream of the Boca bridge but they are coming down fast. Run-off could be over in a week or two. Be very careful wading downstream of the Boca bridge. Upstream the fishing has been fairly decent. Nymphing with stonefly nymphs and a bead head dropper like a pheasant tail is the

The warm weather has pushed water temperatures into the 50's and consequently the spawning fish are in the shallow water as well. Reports this week were much improved. The fish are not in Pelican Bay as in the past two years. Anglers fishing remote beaches are having the best reports. Try 9 mile beach, Sandhole, Popcorn and Monument. Floating lines with indicators and

Warm weather this week has caused the run off season to start. The river has been fluctuating with the air temperatures for the last week or so. This pattern could stick around for the nest few weeks. Cooler temperatures in the forecast should slow the runoff somewhat over the next few days. Big stonefly nymphs like Poxyback Golden Stones, Jumbo Johns and Bottom

Cold temperatures have slowed the fishing down a bit in the river. Most fish are being taken on a two fly rig comprised of a golden stone nymph (size 8 - 10) and a smaller nymph such as a Stealth P.T., Black Copper John, Mighty May Baetis or a size 12-14 Bottom Roller. If air temperatures warm significantly as forecast, look for discolored

Reports from here have varied with the weather. A few bass are being caught so that indicates the water is warming somewhat. Trout will eat a Hinkson Monster Midge or smaller midge imitations such as a zebra midge under an indicator. If you are not catching fish, adjust the depth of your flies below the indicator to fish deeper or shallower.

Today I fished with my brother in law and nephew at Topaz Lake. The fishing was very slow in the AM. But as the day warmed up so did the fishing. We ended up with two nice fish and we lost one at the boat. Pictured here is my nephew Anthony Allegretti with a nice 16' rainbow trout caught on a

The numbers are not there yet but there have been some really big fish caught! Just about everyday there is a report of a 10 to 15 pound fish being caught on a fly rod. The fish have been moving in and out, water temperatures have not risen enough to keep the fish in the shallows. There are some cruisers but they come and go.

The Truckee is approcaching a transition period. Warmer weather will spark some run-off in the coming weeks. The fishing is outstanding in Nevada right now so if you have the time, fish it now. Nymphing with golden stonefly nymphs has been catching some big fish around Reno. The fish are in deeper runs so make sure you are getting your flies down. Keep an eye

Flows are down to 36 CFS. It is starting to get really low and clear. The fish are spooky and hard to catch. For best results fish the deeper pools and wear camoflage type clothing. When the East Carson gets this low it is very important to be stealthy. Hopper Dropper set - ups are the way to go here as well.
