The Upper Klamath River, Hornbrook, CA, is a river in significant transition due to the ongoing Klamath Dam Removal Project. Historically, it held rainbow/brown trout and received Chinook salmon/steelhead runs. Post-dam removal, future angling will target these species as the river naturalizes. Water flows and clarity are currently impacted by dam removal; checking real-time data is critical. Angling techniques include drift fishing and plug fishing for anadromous species, or fly/spin fishing for trout. Access may be restricted near construction. Anglers must strictly adhere to dynamic CDFW regulations, as conservation is paramount during this restoration period.
