Donner Lake is sitting at full capacity, with water temperatures currently holding in the low 50s°F. The shoreline bite for rainbow trout continues to be productive, especially on the west end of the lake. Shore anglers are finding success using Carolina rigs with PowerBait or worms, along with spinners such as Kastmasters, Rooster Tails, and Panther Martins. Mackinaw fishing remains solid as fish continue cruising relatively shallow depths between 40 and 70 feet, with heavy spoons producing the best action. Kokanee fishing has also picked up, with fish feeding aggressively despite still being on the smaller side. Anglers targeting kokanee should focus on trolling flashers or hoochies in 20 to 30 feet of water for the best results.
