The Upper Deschutes continues to fish consistently. Fish are holding closely to wood, undercut banks, lava shelves, and shaded current breaks. Early mornings and evenings continue to provide the best opportunities, particularly before recreational activity increases on the river.

Caddis remain the most dependable hatch, with PMDs providing steady afternoon dry fly opportunities and terrestrials becoming a larger part of the menu. Ants and beetles are producing increasingly well, while evening caddis activity continues to bring fish to the surface.

Below the surface, smaller mayfly nymphs, caddis pupa, Olive Perdigons, Hare's Ears, and Golden Stone nymphs continue to produce. Anglers looking for larger browns are finding success by working compact olive streamers through logjams, cut banks, and deeper holding water.
