Fishing has definitely improved as there are more fish in shallow water this week than in previous weeks. Sunny calm days continue to be tough for most areas unless you are fishing in a boat/float tube in the nets area, or the deeper beaches on the SW side of the lake between Sand Hole and Popcorn. They have produced some fish in the afternoons when the sun gets off the water. These areas have steep drop offs and you can catch a few fish here in the evenings right from the beach. When the wind blows hard from the right directions (NE or SE) the traditional beaches most people fish can produce pretty well. (see post about April 10th) With the high water and hard to reach ledges, we are going to be at the mercy of the weather for most of the season this year.

Good flies to try: Sinking lines - Bloody Mary, Black/Chartreuse, Popcorn beetles, Pyramid Pearls and a variety of other patterns have worked in the last week. Floating Line/Indicators - Wine Mahalo nymphs, Maroon Mahalo midges, Black Mahalo midges have all caught some fish.

Check the weather and when the wind blows and it is going to be overcast......GO!!!
