Anglers have been fishing shallow in the early mornings on the west shore NEW

by DOUG BUSEY
Anglers have been fishing shallow in the early morning in about 30 ft of water on the west shore. They have been trolling fast with big Rapalas and picking up a few small mackinaws. As the sun gets a little higher, and after soaking the minnow trap, fish a little deeper in 150 to 175 ft of water with a jig and a live minnow. Talking with

The lake is full and the fishing has been good to fair for small rainbows NEW

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake is full and the fishing has been good to fair for small rainbows. Trollers have done well with Rapalas on the road side and the south end. But don't go too far south or you will find the willow forest that's under the water, "Snag City". Shore anglers have done fair with Powerbait or inflated nightcrawlers.

At Lake Tahoe, mackinaw fishing has been great

by MOUNTAIN HARDWARE & SPORTS
At Lake Tahoe, mackinaw fishing has been great. Anglers can find mackinaw around 200 feet deep. For trout fishing, fishing from a boat or shore has been successful early morning or at last light of the day. Water temperatures are around 50 degrees.

Not many anglers have been getting out due to weather

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing has been slow. Not many anglers have been getting out due to weather. I talked with my friend and fellow angler Jason. He told me that he could see the large fish on his graph as they came up to look at his presentation, but would then turn around and go back down. He did get a couple nice macs on his last

by DOUG BUSEY

The fishing has picked up when you can get out

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing has picked up when you can get out. The day before my last report, I think NDOW read it because they planted almost 4,000 rainbow trout. Now there is a boat inspector at the ramp before you enter. There was no charge for the inspection. Here also, NDOW is concerned about our waters—make sure you say hello to him for me. Most anglers

The rainbow and brown action has been fair to good along the west side

by DOUG BUSEY
When the wind isn't making white caps. The mac fishing has been fair for anglers fishing deep off the Tahoe shoal and Dollar Point. The rainbow and brown action has been fair to good along the west side in the rocky areas. Most have been trolling F7 or F9 Rapalas in Black/silver or tossing tube jigs right along the top of the rocks. For more

The lake is to the top

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake is to the top. The water is cloudy with a little grassy debris on it. The bass fishing is doing very well. As for trout fishing. I fished with my friend Arnie Phelan from Carson City last weekend. We trolled deep and shallow. I must have tried every size and color of Rapalas in my box. Along with a couple secrets that I

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Mackinaw fishing has been a little slow.  Best areas have been Dollar Point or the Tahoe shelf using a dodger and a live minnow. Some anglers have been trolling F9 Rapalas in a black and silver pattern. Note: use a little smelly jelly lightly on the back end of your lure. Not to much or you take away the action of the lure. Fellow angler

The lake level keeps coming up a little each day

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level keeps coming up a little each day. For those that love to do a little bass fishing. Get your bass down there. The smallmouth and largemouth are on their beds starting to spawn. Small hair jigs in an orange pattern have been most productive. The trout are starting to become active in the early mornings in the shallows or on the drop

Stocking has begun at Seeman Pond and fishing has been good

by NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE
Stocking has begun at Seeman Pond and fishing has been good. Rainbow trout are caught primarily on salmon eggs and power bait on the bottom or under a bobber. Small wet flies and lures are also very effective on the pond.

The mackinaw fishing has been very good

by DOUG BUSEY
The mackinaw fishing has been very good. I spoke with a long time friend Sean Luscombe from Carson City Nv. He has been fishing with a friend and doing very well for good sized mackinaws. Best areas have been the Tahoe shelf, Rubicon Bay or the area between Camp Richardson and Emerald Bay. Best attractant was a dodger and a live minnow. Some have had

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
I fished the lake this week. I have to tell you, the lake is within a few feet of being full capacity. The water is almost at the top of the Douglas County Parks department launch ramp. The lake was still and calm. I trolled for 4 1/2 hrs for trout and got only a couple hits. I threw every pattern and size variation I

Fishing has been very good for casting the rocky areas for rainbows

by DOUG BUSEY
Fishing has been very good for casting the rocky areas for rainbows. Jigging has been good for decent mackinaws ranging 3 to 5 lbs. Best areas have been on the south west side of the lake from Camp Richardson to Emerald bay. Some anglers have also had good success on the north end of the lake.  Jason sent me a few pictures of his catches

Lake Tahoe Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
Talking with my friend and fellow angler Jason Blanchette. Their last trip out they trolled Rapalas early and caught a few mackinaws. Then they switched to Blades and a live minnow (which using live minnows, they have to be caught in the lake. you cannot bring in from another source) They ended up catching 12 mac's with the biggest weighing in at 8lbs. Jason took

The lake level has come up a few feet

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake level has come up a few feet. There were fish all over the lake. Which we pickup on my scanner. We trolled various Rapalas in f3's f5's and j7's in various patterns with only a few strikes and one to the boat. I spoke with a few other anglers and they had the same luck. Reminder that if you use the park area

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
The lake has come up about 4 ft since my last trip down there. The boat ramp is open and clear. The center dock is the only one available right now. I fished this week with long time fellow angler Don from Carson City.  We started trolling about 9:30 and fished until 2pm. I could see big schools of fish everywhere. But the bite was

The fishing has still been good for mackinaws and rainbows

by DOUG BUSEY
The fishing has still been good for mackinaws and rainbows. When the weather holds out. Another gift idea. Go to rubyjeancharters.com and buy a gift certificate for that special angler, or anglers in your life. Jason can take out parties of 2 to 6 people. Another great stocking stuffer.

Topaz Lake Fishing Report

by DOUG BUSEY
I took one of my old coworkers Jeff Jeffress from TRE fishing with me this week. We started at 9:30 and fished until 3. The early morning bite was very good for 1.75 to 2.0lb rainbows. We got 6 fish to the boat and lost one that was much bigger. We also caught a very nice small mouth bass about 2-3 lbs. All fish were

Angler Report: Topaz Lake

by FISH REPORTS STAFF
We fished Topaz on November 28 and had a slow morning, but things picked up around noon. We landed two fish at 12:00 and 12:45 while trolling Rapalas and casting small Kastmasters. The trolling fish weighed 4.4 pounds and measured 21.5 inches. Beautiful weather made for a great day on the water. Sam Roberts
