Now open all year to fish. The NDOW has planted over 10,000 catchable trout over the last month. The Douglas County day use and baot ramp area is open. The water level has started to rise and the fishing has been fair to good for shore anglers. Boaters have been using black/silver or gold/white Rapalas. Shore anglers fishing with chartreuse powerbait and worms off the bottom are still finding some fish around deeper water. Good reports back from boats trolling with flashers in the upper water column with the cold snap. Heavy kastmaster and spoons are good at getting down to lower holding fish until temps fall and fish really come up. Fishing should stay good until winter really lets

The NDOW has planted the lake with over 4000 triploid strains of rainbow trout. Fishing has been very good for trollers with flashers followed by a crawler or a #1 needle fish. Fishing has been very good at Spooner this season for both quantity and quality trout. Some reports of tigers up to twenty inches on dry flies, no kidding. Chub populations are still strong, but the tigers are clearly starting to take advantage of their overwhelming presence. Mackinaw fishing 2.0. Not as good as your first trip earlier this year but fun times for sure.

The lake level is low. The Douglas County day use and boat ramp is open. The NDOW planted the lake recently with 4000 rainbow trout. Green powerbait has been most productive for shore anglers. Trollers have been using flashers and worms and the occasional Raplala.

The lake level is still plunging downward. The county ramp is open for launching. With the colder day time temps. The fishing has started to pick up for angler trolling Needlefish or Rapalas. Blades and a crawler have also been productive. Remember that the lake will not be closing in October. The lake is open year round for anglers.

Pulled away from the fish at 9:30 am. Counts can go 30-50 fish very easily right now with mixed bags daily.

The water level has dropped about a foot since the first of the month. Fishing has been fair for anglers going deep for trout. Many anglers have been using down riggers or lead line with a needlefish or a small rapalas. The smallmouth bass have been hugging the hard rocky bottoms and the deeper structures, while the largemouth have been mainly off the large rock

 Fishing has been fair to slow. I recommend getting out as early as you can to beat the heat. Most trollers have gone deeper off the east and north shore. The water level has been going down slowly over the last couple weeks.
