Lake Tahoe Stocked With Catchable Lahontan cutthroat trout

This week the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery stocked 4,857 catchable Pilot Peak strain Lahontan cutthroat trout into Lake Tahoe. Stocking will continue weekly throughout the summer at various publicly accessible locations in both California and Nevada. Approximately 20% of the trout stocked will be tagged with a T-bar anchor tag that has a unique ID and phone number on it. Anglers are encouraged to report

Flows are just above 300 csf on the Carson

We’re definitely near the end of the runoff season on the Carson. Flows have come down to about 500cfs on the East fork and just above 300cfs in Carson over the last few weeks and will continue to fall. Spooner has been fishing well

Spooner has been fishing well and should continue to until the shoreline vegetation takes over in early summer. Damsel and leech patterns are working well. Chub populations continue to be an issue with some up to 12 inches eating flies and lures. 7,500 3.5inch Brown Trout

We’ve waited to post these pics of stocking 7,500 3.5” brown trout in the east Carson, as ‘high’ as possible in Nevada.. ( our biologist wanted to see if it worked) It DID! It was FABULOUS ! Lake Wind Advisory

There is a Lake Wind Advisory in effect today on Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake from 11 am this morning until 11 pm tonight. The National Weather Service estimates 15-25 mph winds with gusts of 35 to 40 mph. Waves are expected to be between 1 to 3 feet on Pyramid and up to 4 feet on Lake Tahoe.
